BYU-Pathway Worldwide is seeking a full-time Data Analyst – Instructional Technology to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of the data systems supporting our global instructional model. You’ll work at the intersection of curriculum, technology, and analytics—helping optimize the tools used by instructors and graders, and contributing to improved student outcomes.
This position supports data quality, reporting, and configuration within Microsoft Dynamics 365 and related tools, including Power BI and Instructure’s Canvas. The analyst will report directly to the Director of Instructional Technology and collaborate across teams, including curriculum, development, and data stewards.
This is a hybrid role based in Salt Lake City, Utah, with 1–2 in-office days per week.
Responsibilities
What You’ll Do
1. Data Quality Management
- Develop and implement data quality rules within Microsoft Dynamics 365.
- Manage duplicate detection and inaccurate data rules to prevent data errors in communications and reporting.
- Continuously monitor data generated by products to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Communicate data inaccuracies promptly and work toward resolution.
2. Reporting & Analytics
- Collaborate with academic and business stewards to ensure reliable data for decision-making.
- Develop and maintain curriculum-specific reports and administrative dashboards using Power BI.
- Translate complex datasets into clear insights for non-technical stakeholders.
3. System Configuration
- Gather course configuration details from stakeholders and enter them into Dynamics 365.
- Enter data using forms, views, and workflows to support course setup.
- Understand operational procedures for course and system setup to ensure smooth semester launches.
4. AI Integration
- Explore and implement AI-driven tools for curriculum insights, student tracking, and data analysis.
- Contribute to innovation by identifying AI opportunities to improve data processes.
5. Data Integration & Process Optimization
- Understand the integration between Dynamics 365, Anthology Student, and Instructure Canvas.
- Continuously improve data quality workflows and minimize time spent on manual corrections.
- Ensure configuration and data accuracy to support long-term scalability.
6. Collaboration & Communication
- Partner with developers and data stewards to resolve discrepancies and improve system reliability.
- Participate in strategic planning related to data infrastructure, reporting, and curriculum planning.
Qualifications
What We’re Looking For
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience working with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Microsoft Dataverse.
- Hands-on experience with Excel, SQL, and Power BI for data analysis and reporting.
Skills & Abilities
- Strong understanding of data validation, cleansing, and quality assurance processes.
- Proficiency with Dynamics 365 CRM module, including querying, exporting/importing data, and working with model-driven apps.
- Familiarity with Instructure Canvas, including course setup, gradebook management, and SIS imports.
- Technical capabilities including SQL, API integrations, Excel pivot tables, and CSV-based data management.
- Strong attention to detail, persistence, and the ability to follow through on data issues to resolution.
- Effective communicator with the ability to present data clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Critical thinker with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Familiarity with data privacy regulations such as FERPA and GDPR.
- Basic project management skills to handle competing priorities and support institutional goals.
