Primary Purpose:
- Promote future-ready teaching and learning by providing leadership, coaching, and campus support that integrates best practices in digital learning and educational technology.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university, Master’s degree preferred
- Valid Texas teaching certificate
- Distance Learning/Online instructor certification preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, record-keeping and time management skills
- Ability to expertly communicate with all stakeholders and facilitate effective meetings and professional learning opportunities
- Effective human relations skills in face-to-face and digital environments
- Ability to problem solve collaboratively with various groups
- Ability to utilize and create digital video, audio, and other products
- Ability to quickly learn and stay up-to-date with existing and emerging technologies
Experience:
- Minimum five (5) years classroom teaching experience preferred
- Minimum three (3) years of specialist experience required
- Current instructional technology specialist or library information specialist preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Work with administrators, campus content specialists, and library information specialists to build and extend capacity in the effective use and integration of educational technology
- Provide leadership, coaching, and district/campus support for digital learning initiatives and educational technology best practices
- Work with content coordinators and specialists to develop TEKS-aligned opportunities for the integration of technology and future-ready learning
- Support emerging technology planning, pilots, and implementation
- Review, use, and analyze data to ensure program effectiveness and positive student learning outcomes
- Participate in the implementation of strategies and goals derived from the District Improvement and Long-Range Technology plans
- Promote and support the use of the district learning management system, single-sign on resources, and other educational programs
- Plan and collaborate to ensure clear and consistent messaging with regard to digital learning programs and priorities using a variety of communications channels.
Instructional Strategies
- Collaboratively plan technology-integrated lessons, co-teach lessons, and model lessons to support specialist and teacher development
- Coach and collaborate with instructional technology specialists, library information specialists, and campus leaders to plan, monitor, and provide checkpoints for digital learning goals
- Support the implementation and alignment of the Technology Applications TEKS to ensure future-ready learning outcomes
Professional Growth and Development
- Provide leadership coaching and development opportunities for instructional technology specialists and library information specialists
- Provide expertise, training, and support in best practices for blended and personalized learning
- Provide professional learning experiences on the instructional and productive use of new and existing digital learning and technology tools/equipment
Other
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
- Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned

Evaluation:
- Performance in this role is evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of Professional Non-Supervisor Personnel.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals
Posture: Standing, prolonged sitting, occasional kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing pulling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; may also require climbing stairs and reaching over head
Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds); May require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (15-45 pounds)
Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent district wide travel; all campuses are temperature controlled with hard surface floors
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
