Position Title: Assistant Janitorial Manager

Part Time

Location: New Castle County

Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour

POSITION PURPOSE

The Assistant Janitorial Manager is responsible for the janitorial operations within their assigned territory in New Castle County. In this role, the incumbent works directly with Janitorial Team Leads, General Cleaners and clients to ensure quality service for all contract sites within their assigned area. The Assistant Janitorial Manager serves as a member of the Management Support Team.

This is a part-time position at 25 hours per week.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

  1. Oversee daily operations of all janitorial services within the assigned area. Create work schedules and coordinate workflows for team members to ensure that the janitorial services meet the requirements of the contract.
  2. Provide functional support to Janitorial Team Leads and General Cleaners to ensure efficient operations.
  3. Follow safety policies and procedures to ensure safe working conditions for the area supervised.
  4. Inspect work performed to ensure service quality and adherence to contract terms.
  5. Ensure maximum customer satisfaction by maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the work environment.
  6. Develop and maintain a high-quality working relationship with clients. Address any client issues that may arise in a timely manner.
  7. Maintain organized records of assigned supplies, equipment and service contracts. Maintain janitorial equipment in a clean, safe and orderly condition and inform the Regional Janitorial Operations Manager when supplies need to be replenished.
  8. Connect team members with support and resources available at Goodwill and in the community to ensure their success, with a particular focus on accommodating and empowering team members with disabilities.
  9. Communicate company policies and procedures to team members within the assigned area.
  10. Participate in the interview process and provide training to team members.
  11. Perform janitorial duties in the event of General Cleaner team member absences or position vacancies.
  12. Inform the Regional Janitorial Operations Manager about issues and/or new developments within the assigned territory.
  13. Attend training sessions and team meetings, as required.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

At least two years’ experience in the field of janitorial services. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of cleaning practices, equipment, and chemical safety
  • Ability to execute supervisory tasks, including delegating tasks and ensuring the follow-through of assigned tasks
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, and ability to interact effectively with a diverse constituent population
  • Excellent communication skills to include listening skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong organization skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to handle challenging situations with a calm and professional demeanor
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills, and ability to take the initiative and exercise good judgement at all times
  • Ability to perform moderate to heavy lifting up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, bend and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to work flexible day and evening hours based on business needs
  • Must have access to reliable transportation
