The Program Director of Bronx Bridges is responsible for leading the Good Shepherd Services team in providing counseling and support services for Bronx Bridges students and supporting the Bronx Bridges Administrative team. The Program Director is also responsible for implementing, coordinating, and overseeing the COMPASS After School program.

REPORTS TO: Senior Vice President of Partnership Schools

LOCATION: 1980 Lafayette Ave, Bronx NY 10473

HOURS: 35 Hours/Week; Exempt

SALARY: $65,000-$72,000/Year

Major Duties:

  • Collaborate with the principal, administrative team and school staff to align the support services and GSS activities with the school goals and objectives.
  • Provide individual and group counseling, as it relates to student academic progress.
  • Provide daily crisis intervention with students regarding personal and/or in school issues that affect their behavior and attendance and connect these students to appropriate resources when available.
  • Provide staff with regularly scheduled supervision, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Oversee the implementation and coordination of after school enrichment activities and curricula.
  • Ensure program’s compliance with DYCD, EXPAND ED, COMPASS and COA accreditation requirements.
  • Organize and manage any special events of the after-school program (i.e., securing space, food, travel, admissions, supplies, etc.).
  • Provide family outreach and involvement as appropriate.
  • Develop and implement workshops responsive to student needs.
  • Develop linkages within the school and the community.
  • Participate in appropriate school-based teams or committees.
  • Complete and submit required narrative and statistical reports monthly.
  • Record and track program attendance and goals.
  • Monitor program expenditures.
  • Ensure the safety, security, and welcoming atmosphere of the site.
  • Attend all staff meetings, required professional development trainings, and participate in weekly supervision.
  • Collaborate effectively with GSS Peer Programs and support departments
  • Perform other duties assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus experience managing programs and staff required.
  • Must have strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Previous experience working with Community Based Organizations preferred.
  • Experience coordinating after school programs and working with DOE high school/program preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
  • Must have a commitment to work from a strength based and youth development perspective.
