About the role

As a Principal Product Manager at Tyro, you are a very senior individual contributor who leads the development of differentiated, strategic products that drive long-term growth and business impact. You operate at the intersection of product vision, customer insight, and commercial outcomes—owning complex product domains end-to-end, influencing company direction, and inspiring teams to build innovative solutions that scale. This is a highly strategic and execution centric role, ideal for a product leader who thrives on ambiguity, tackles hard problems head-on, and elevates the craft of product management across the organization through leadership by example.

What you'll do

Product Strategy & Vision:

  • Own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for a large, complex product domain or platform area with a 12–24+ month horizon.
  • Craft opinionated and differentiated strategies using frameworks such as "Where to Play" and "How to Win" to create durable competitive advantage.
  • Identify and validate long-term opportunities that span across product boundaries and business lines.

Execution & Product Excellence:

  • Drive complex initiatives from zero-to-one and scale, balancing technical, customer, and commercial dimensions.
  • Define robust success metrics, OKRs, and learning loops for your product area.
  • Set the standard for product quality, speed, and strategic depth, ensuring high-leverage trade-offs and crisp prioritization.

Customer & Market Insight:

  • Maintain a deep, intuitive understanding of customer needs, market dynamics, and competitor landscapes.
  • Regularly engage with merchants and end-users, uncovering novel insights and translating them into breakthrough product ideas
  • Leverage data, research, and structured problem solving to navigate ambiguity and make high-stakes decisions.

Thought Leadership & Influence:

  • Influence stakeholders across the business, from C-level executives to engineering and go-to-market partners.
  • Champion Tyro’s product culture and raise the bar for PM craft through mentoring, coaching, and thought leadership.
  • Act as a key contributor to company-wide product strategy and cross-functional investment decisions.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:
  • Partner with engineering, design, marketing, operations, and legal to ensure seamless product delivery and go-to-market execution.
  • Lead decision-making forums, DACIs, and strategic reviews, bringing clarity and structure to complex initiatives.
  • Proactively identify and resolve cross-team dependencies and risks.

Performance Indicators

Your success will be measured by:

  • Strategic impact: Creation and execution of high-leverage product strategies that move key business metrics.
  • Product outcomes: Measurable success in customer adoption, engagement, retention, and/or monetization.
  • Thought leadership: Influence on company direction, internal processes, and product culture.
  • Execution and velocity: Ability to drive results quickly while maintaining quality and clarity.
  • Cross-functional alignment: Strength of stakeholder buy-in and ability to influence at all levels.

What you'll do

Proven Product Leadership:

  • 7+ years in product management, with at least 2+ years owning a large product area or platform with high strategic visibility.
  • Track record of launching successful, customer-loved, and commercially impactful products at scale.

Strategic Thinking & Craft Mastery:

  • Exceptional product intuition backed by structured frameworks, data, and customer insight.
  • Expertise in managing ambiguous problem spaces, identifying leverage points, and making high-quality decisions quickly.

Customer-Obsessed & Data-Driven:

  • Strong experience in leading customer research, experimentation, and cohort-based analysis.
  • Ability to synthesize insights from qualitative and quantitative sources into decisive product direction.

Influence Without Authority:

  • A natural collaborator and communicator who leads through storytelling, clarity of thought, and calm under pressure.
  • Experience influencing company-level priorities and getting buy-in for complex, cross-functional initiatives.

Product Excellence & Scale:

  • Skilled at defining long-term roadmaps, scalable architectures, and sustainable processes.
  • Comfortable working across multiple squads and product lines, navigating trade-offs and dependencies.
