We are seeking a Hong Kong based Application Support Analyst to join our Equity Investment Management Technology in Global Technology & Operations.

Team/Group Description

The Equity Investment Management Technology (“EIMT”) team creates and maintains software to support the research, portfolio management, and trading activities for AB’s institutional and private client business lines. The successful candidate will join the EIMT – Application Support Team. The support team is responsible for troubleshooting issues related to applications that are utilized by our traders, portfolio managers and back-office teams.

Role Description

The Application Support Analyst is a key role for our firm providing front-office production support to Equity Trading and Portfolio Management business users, reporting to the Head of Application Support in EIMT. This role is vital for supporting the global investment management process across Equity, Multi-Asset, Fixed Income, and FX systems.

As part of a global support team operating under a 'follow-the-sun' model, the workday begins in the APAC region, transitions through Europe, and concludes in the Americas. Our application support analysts in each region focus on resolving production issues during their respective hours. Due to overlapping time zones, team members are also expected to assist users in other regions as needed.

Applications and business or enterprise functions the role supports

The EIMT department builds and maintains a variety of software applications and tools that facilitate the investment process across SBUs. This includes research and portfolio implementation applications, order management systems (OMS), and execution management systems (EMS). The applications range from bespoke software to vendor-provided tools. Products that we support include cash and swap equities, futures, options, FX, rate swaps, swaptions, OTC options, var swaps, and mutual funds. The processes and tools we support are critical to day-to-day operations and AB’s commitment to deliver positive client-outcomes.

Key job responsibilities

The successful candidate’s primary focus will be managing the production environment for the trading applications we support. The specific tasks include, but not limited to:

  • Collaborate closely with business and technology teams to analyze and resolve issues related to third-party and in-house portfolio management and trading systems.
  • Deliver daily application-level support for production incidents.
  • Maintain vigilant oversight of the production environment, adhering to all protocols concerning production changes throughout the day.
  • Serve as the central point of contact for all escalations related to Equities, Fixed Income, Multi-Asset, and FX Technology.
  • Ensure all incidents are logged, escalated, and followed up on effectively.

Qualifications, Experience, Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
  • 2+ years of Financial Services experience preferably in a Trading or Asset Management environment
  • Exceptional client service and communication skills, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic trading floor environment.
  • Working knowledge of securities industry systems & terminology (Equities | Fixed Income | Multi-Asset | FX) is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with FIX certification & troubleshooting preferred
  • Technical knowledge of Windows Server Operating Systems and UNIX
  • Working Knowledge of SQL & Relational Databases (MS SQL & Sybase)
  • Demonstrates strong organizational and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Collaborates directly with technology and development teams, as well as end-users, to address support-related issues.
  • Manages incident resolution, ensuring proper escalation and follow-up with clients.
  • Proactively monitors and oversees the production environment.
  • Experience with Perl/Shell scripting is a plus.

Skills

  • Solid understanding of SQL (MS SQL & Sybase)
  • Experience with supporting execution and order management systems.
  • Solid understanding of Unix/Linux
  • Solid understanding of FIX protocol (4.2 / 4.4)
  • Solid understanding of trading life cycle.
  • Having market data knowledge (Bloomberg, FactSet), is a plus.
