Summary:

The Senior Systems Analyst serves as a mentor within the Core team, providing guidance and support for the management and enhancement of all Critical Core Applications. Leveraging extensive technical expertise, the Senior Systems Analyst ensures the integrity, functionality, and security of core systems through complex systems architecture, advanced PowerOn programming, and thorough project support. This role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving and strategic planning.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide expert oversight of the Core Credit Union system and other critical core applications, ensuring optimal functionality, security, and alignment with business objectives.
  • Manage the lifecycle of core applications, including OpCon, Synapsys, Synergy, Image Center, ARCU, and other essential systems.
  • Drive system improvements and manage major upgrades, patches, and enhancements with minimal disruption to operations.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to determine detailed requirements, including user needs, system integration points, and architectural specifications.
  • Lead the design, configuration, and deployment of advanced software solutions, leveraging deep technical knowledge and cross-functional insight.
  • Identify opportunities to improve data management processes and implement solutions to enhance data quality and accessibility.
  • Assemble and lead medium to large project teams for high-impact system implementations, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure consistent communication, project documentation, and adherence to timelines, acting as a key liaison between business units, vendors, and technical teams.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of system architecture, configurations, and troubleshooting processes, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, helping develop their technical skills, problem-solving capabilities, and understanding of core applications.
  • Act as a resource for training and knowledge-sharing sessions, fostering a collaborative team culture.
  • Serve as Tier 3 support for complex issues in software, hardware, and network components within the credit union’s IT infrastructure.
  • Proactively troubleshoot and resolve critical issues, escalating to vendors or internal IT staff as necessary and ensuring thorough follow-up until resolution.
  • Regularly analyze system performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement solutions to enhance efficiency, security, and scalability of core applications.
  • Remain on-call as needed to address urgent issues, implement critical updates, or provide support during major system changes.
  • Collaborate with business units, vendors and technical staff to achieve business results.
  • Performs other duties as might be assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years in systems support, management, or administration within a banking or credit union environment
  • Proficient in PowerOn programming for Symitar customization, report generation, and system enhancements.
  • Advanced knowledge of financial institution applications. Symitar and other core systems such as OpCon, Synapsys, Synergy, and Image Center preferred.
  • Ability to manage and implement Jack Henry system updates or releases, including planning, testing, and coordination.
  • Expertise in performing system failovers and disaster recovery exercises to safeguard against system outages and data loss.
  • Experience in managing SQL Database Servers specifically related to data ingestion and extraction, query optimization, and sql backups.
  • Demonstrated project management experience with a track record of leading complex, cross-functional projects to successful completion.
  • Exceptional analytical, troubleshooting, and strategic problem-solving skills, with attention to detail in high-pressure scenarios.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to effectively collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiar with industry regulations and credit union policies, with a commitment to maintaining compliance and supporting audit requirements.
  • Flexibility to work in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities and the capacity to provide on-call and after-hours support as needed

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while using a computer.
  • Occasional lifting of IT equipment (up to 25 lbs).
  • Frequent use of hands to operate computer and office equipment.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods when assisting users or during training sessions.
  • Bending, reaching, and squatting may be required to troubleshoot hardware in various office environments.
  • Must have the ability to see details at close range (within a few feet) and the ability to adjust focus when working with computers and other equipment.
  • Occasional travel may be required to support remote offices or off-site locations, including local travel within the service area.
