Public Health and Medical Affairs (PHMA) Manager/Senior Manager – Caribbean

This Miami-based position will be part of a team of field based employees reporting to the Public Health & Medical Affairs (PHMA) Director of the Northern Latin American and Caribbean region. The PHMA Manager will disseminate information related to public health and scientific aspects of Gilead’s innovative products for the treatment of various medical conditions to thought-leaders, academic institutions, healthcare professionals, and professional organizations.

Principle Roles and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Deliver timely, accurate, and succinct presentations related to public health, clinical, and scientific aspects of various medical conditions (including but not limited to viral hepatitis and liver diseases, HIV infection, fungal diseases, cardiovascular diseases, respiratory and inflammatory diseases, and hematologic and oncologic diseases) to healthcare professionals, both proactively and in response to requests for information, consistent with promotional compliance and the requirements of pertinent regulatory agencies.
  • Implement defined goals and objectives aligned with the PHMA Plan of Action and other strategic initiatives.
  • Develop plans for cultivating and maintaining working relationships with existing and future thought leaders in assigned geographic territory.
  • Participate in advisory boards, symposia, and educational programs, such as speaker training sessions and clinical conferences.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across other functional areas, including Clinical Research, Medical

Communications, Sales and Marketing, etc.

  • Support the development, deployment, and appropriate use of field tools and resources (e.g. slide decks).

  • Advanced degree (MD/PhD/PharmD) with experience in the pharmaceutical industry or related healthcare field required.
  • A minimum 3 years of relevant experience in a medically related endeavor (e.g., liver diseases and/or HIV medicine); in addition, a strong knowledge of public health, health economics and outcomes research, treatment landscape, and/or treatment guidelines in the fields of HIV medicine, viral hepatitis, and/or liver diseases would be highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Capacity to develop and deliver high-quality presentations is essential.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills required .
  • Affinity for a collaborative, team-oriented environment and approach; ability to network and partner with internal and external stakeholders, including medical thought-leaders, academic institutions, large group practices, medical directors, and pharmacy directors.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, including the management of multiple priorities and resources.
  • Strong business skills/acumen; translation of scientific expertise and knowledge to achieve the identified business goals of the company.
  • Ability to travel 50-70% of the time.
  • Fluency in English indispensable; fluency in Spanish highly desirable.
