Join the Team at AVANI Melbourne Jazz Corner Residences – Part Time Commis Chef

AVANI Melbourne Jazz Corner Residences, an iconic property located in the heart of Melbourne, is currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Part Time Commis Chef to join our busy kitchen.

As a Commis Chef, you’ll play a key role in supporting the daily kitchen operations across our Restaurant, Conferences & Events, and Room Service offerings. You’ll work closely with our talented team and report directly to the Executive Chef, gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced, professional environment.

What You'll Do:

• Assist in the preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes.
• Support service across multiple outlets including the restaurant, event spaces, and in-room dining.
• Ensure food safety and hygiene standards are consistently maintained.
• Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to deliver a seamless guest experience.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will need to:

• Hold relevant Certificate III cookery qualifications and previous experience in a similar role.
• Have knowledge about Modern Australian Cuisine
• Have knowledge and understanding of HACCP and OH&S
• Be flexible to work a range of different shifts, including weekends.
• Be able to work under pressure within a dynamic team environment.
• Be able to coach and motivate less experienced members of the kitchen team.
• Be self-motivated and able to work without supervision.
• Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work across a flexible roster including mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
