Job Summary

Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is looking for the best and brightest to join our Team! This position is located at TLF. Candidates selected for this position will serve as a Housekeeper.

Major Duties

Makes beds, changes sheets, towels, and other linens. Thoroughly cleans guest room to include dusting, waxing and polishing furniture, sweeping floors, vacuuming and shampooing rugs, emptying ashtrays and wastebaskets, and sanitizing lavatories. Using a ladder, washes walls and windows and dusts drapes and blinds. Turns mattresses, sanitizes all fixtures and bedding with disinfectant, and services each room daily with soap, cups, coffee, etc. Reports missing or broken articles to supervisor. Occasionally scrubs, strips, waxes, and polishes floors using heavy (industrial-type) powered scrubbers, buffers and steam cleaners. Washes and replaces Venetian blinds. Washes ceiling fixtures. Moves heavy furniture. Launders linens, towels, etc. as required. Cleans kitchen facilities in guest rooms.

Brings the lost and found items from the guest room; tags with guest name/room number to the item bag; logs into logbook.

Prepares a limited variety of simple foods from prepared ingredients selecting correct amount of each ingredient. Sets up breakfast area ensuring area is clean and ready for guest arrival. Cooks and prepares a variety of breakfast items based on the Inns of the Corps Branding program. Operates a variety of simple kitchen equipment, such as microwave, coffee makers, etc. Sets up buffet line with sufficient menu items, plates, silverware, and glasses, sets up breakfast displays as prescribed in Branding standards and is aware of holding times/temperatures. Replenishes items as necessary.

Clears tables, cleans and sanitize in preparation for the next guest. Cleans and maintains a neat and orderly work area. Covers, dates and stores leftovers according to established procedures. Complies with fire, safety, sanitation and security regulations.

Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge of proper care and maintenance of carpets and furniture. Ability to handle and control heavy powered equipment. Knowledge of proper uses of a variety of special cleaning and sanitizing solutions and ability to remove different kinds of stains from a wide variety of surfaces. Ability to read and understand directions on labels and printed instructions. Must be skilled in various phases of food service operations with specialized experience and training in food preparation. Knowledge of the operation of kitchen equipment. Simple arithmetic and the ability to read instructions are required. Working knowledge of common sanitation procedures to prevent contamination of food products and maintain clean equipment. Must take a ServSafe Food Handler's Course.

Responsibility: Supervisor provides general direction on common and recurring duties and incumbent performs these duties independently. Specific and detailed instructions are provided on new or complex assignments. Work is spot checked to adherence to instructions, completeness, quantity and quality.

Physical Effort: Work requires constant standing, bending, stooping, reaching and lifting of objects. Climbs ladders and operates industrial equipment. Lifts and carries objects up to 45 lbs independently and objects over 45 lbs with assistance.

Working Conditions: Work is normally performed indoors under normal conditions. Exposed to vibration from heavy equipment, strong odors and skin irritations from strong cleaning solutions. May be exposed to pet hair and dander in pet friendly areas. Must be able to accommodate flexible work schedule to include nights and weekends.
