We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Sourcing Manager to join our team and support our new E-commerce project in China.

Sourcing Manager, China

The Sourcing Manager will be responsible for sourcing and developing local-to-local assortments, driving factory relationships, negotiating initial costs, and following up on production and orders. This role is crucial for executing both short and long-term sourcing strategies and making strategic decisions across various categories managed by the team.

Your responsibilities:

  • Identify and collaborate with local vendors to develop local-local E-commerce assortments.
  • Support the Commercial Director in executing sourcing strategies for managing vendors and categories.
  • Drive priorities, objectives, and action plans to improve the supply base and mitigate risks with measurable accountability.
  • Assist in leveraging opportunities and executing sourcing strategies for global site-specific items.
  • Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to ensure products meet quality standards.
  • Manage product development, communicate key milestones, and oversee the sample approval process.
  • Track production proactively, communicate, and troubleshoot exceptions and delays.
  • Negotiate costs and propose value engineering options to achieve profitability goals while maintaining product vision.
  • Collaborate with factories and product design teams to introduce new art techniques and applications, and research trends.
  • Monitor supplier performance to ensure they meet commercial needs, regulatory standards, and other established requirements.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Strong knowledge of product-specific construction standards, materials, and manufacturing processes/techniques.
  • Outstanding negotiation skills.
  • Ability to balance conflicting priorities between creative design and cost objectives.
  • Proficiency in Japanese, English, and Mandarin or Cantonese.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and strategy formulation skills.
  • Ability to influence internal stakeholders and drive efficient decision-making.
  • Experience in merchandise sourcing and production management.

Your ideal Profile:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Global Sourcing and/or Merchandising and production management
  • Experience in undergarment, female apparel, highly preferred. Manufacturing experience within these specialties, a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage vendor relationships and negotiate effectively.
  • Bachelor’s degree. Product-specific technical degree, a plus
  • Proficiency in Mandarin and Shanghainese (spoken and written). English will be advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance processes and standards.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
