Montgomery County Public Schools in Virginia, is now accepting applications for a Gifted Resource teacher
position available in the division for the school year 2025-2026.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Gifted Resource teacher serves students throughout the division and coordinates the identification and
placement of gifted students; provides support for the classroom teacher in development and delivery of
differentiated curriculum; and works directly with gifted students. The Gifted Resource teacher uses a
collaborative model in working with the principals and teachers to provide services to the students and is a
member of a cadre of teachers who conduct staff development sessions on gifted identification, curriculum,
and instruction at the school and division levels.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
? Hold or be eligible for a Virginia Teacher’s License with an endorsement in elementary or secondary
education
? Have a minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching experience working with gifted and
high-ability students
? Develop and implement effective lesson plans and curriculum materials
? Possesses the ability to effectively assess student learning and use results to plan and implement
appropriate instruction
? Integrate technology into classroom instruction to enhance learning
? Utilize Google Drive for instructional purposes, collaboration, and managing coursework
? Create and maintain an inclusive, supportive learning environment that respects the diverse
backgrounds and needs of all students
? Communicate effectively with strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills
? Engage and collaborate effectively with parents and families
? Collaborate with other teachers and contribute to a positive team environment
? Demonstrate dependability, punctuality, and reliability in fulfilling responsibilities
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
? Hold a master’s degree in Education
? Possess an endorsement in gifted education
SALARY: $52,832.35 - $85,613.64 annually, with benefits; commensurate with experience
