What You'll Do

As a Manager – BCG Vantage on our Topic Activation path within BCG's Energy Practice Area, you will collaborate and partner in a growing global team, providing industry expertise and insights. You will work together with case and proposal teams to provide knowledge assets, analysis and expert advisory. You’ll serve as a thought partner and content expert to case teams and topic/sector leaders, helping structure and solve complex issues.

Additionally, as a Manager – BCG Vantage you will drive development of intellectual property and knowledge assets to support the Downstream Oil business, serving as an active contributor to commercialization efforts for the topic/sector, whilst working with business leaders to drive proposals & go-to-market efforts. As an Manager – BCG Vantage, you may line manage a team of junior colleagues, taking responsibility for their goal setting, ongoing feedback and career development support.

Most of your time will be spent supporting case teams and developing Downstream Oil (with focus in Oil Refining) related content, working side by side with members of different backgrounds. You will dedicate time to further develop and deepen BCG’s expertise in these areas, and to support the Energy Practice, BCG Directors and Partners in business development initiatives.

BCG's Energy Practice Area helps companies navigate an increasingly complex business climate. We cover the Oil and Power & Gas sectors, including all "Green Energy" and Social Impact, Climate and Sustainability sectors. We work with the full range of players in the industry: integrated international oil companies (IOCs), national oil companies (NOCs), upstream players, oilfield service companies, refiners, petrochemical producers, and oil trading firms, integrated power and gas utilities, international power producers, renewable specialists, energy wholesalers and retailers, commodity traders, and infrastructure and industry service providers, water utilities and waste-management firms, governments, regulators, industry associations, NGOs, technology companies, OEMs and suppliers to the energy and environment industry, energy-intense heavy industry players.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Client Delivery

  • Partners with consulting teams to identify & address critical knowledge needs
  • Provides customized knowledge for client work, prepares accurate, well developed analysis, in Office based formats
  • Delivers original analysis and insights to consulting team, provides thought partnership

Topic and Practice Development

  • With consultants, collects, synthesizes, and leverages case team learning & inputs into new knowledge products (vignettes, experience)
  • Builds & updates new topic/sector-related customized knowledge products and tools
  • Reviews Vantage products & ensures they are current & relevant and updates when appropriate
  • Writes abstracts & indexes projects & PA documents
  • Collaborates on practice area intellectual capital development
  • Contributes to content development around the topic/sector for PA meetings & trainings

What You'll Bring

  • 3+ years of consulting experience in relevant downstream oil space (refining, marketing and/or petrochemicals) required; candidates with consulting experience strongly preferred
  • In lieu of consulting experience, 4+ years minimum industry experience required; 6-10+ years of industry experience strongly preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree required (advanced degree preferred)
  • Fluency in English
  • Strong business acumen and problem-solving capabilities. Strong analytical skills and a high capacity for conceptual thinking. Ability to develop frameworks for analysis that maximize value added
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to manage individual and teams’ expectations
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills to interact with internal and external stakeholder while working in a global collaborative team environment

Total compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, contributions to BCG’s Profit Sharing and Retirement Fund (PSRF), and a market leading benefits package described below.

We expect total annualized compensation for Houston employees to be approximately the following:

  • Base salary between $136,600 - $142,500; placement within this range will vary based on experience and skill level
  • Annual discretionary performance bonus between 0-20%
  • 5% Profit Sharing Retirement Fund (PSRF) contribution, increasing to 10% after two years of service. Contributions are vested immediately and there is no waiting period
