GHD is looking for a highly skilled civil designer to take on the role of Technical Director – Geometric Designer for our New Zealand Transport Infrastructure business group working across our New Zealand offices.

This technical leadership role focuses on developing and growing technical capability and responding to market opportunity for GHD in design for highway and civil infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead design for highways and civil infrastructure projects with a focus on working in a design and construct environment.
  • Provide technical leadership with an emphasis on growing GHD's capabilities and expertise.
  • Coach and mentor our people while offering innovative solutions for our clients across the government and private sectors.
  • Identify and develop new technical solutions and solve more complex client challenges.

About you:

  • Qualified engineer (Civil) with at least 15 years industry experience
  • A master in specific transport / highways related design,
  • You will have extensive knowledge of applicable standards, industry best practice and familiarity with international design standards.
  • You will be highly proficient in the use of design tools and design automation with strong working knowledge of working in accordance with ISO 19650
  • Client focussed with a growth mindset and ownership mentality
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Tech savvy with a passion for improving delivery through better use of technology
  • You will have a track record for delivering exceptional client experience; and proven ability to cross sell and identify new service offerings.
