HOURLY RANGE: $36.63 - $44.02
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The work involves performing technical and quality assurance functions associated with MRI, Computed Tomography (CT) and radiographic procedures at the Erie County Medical Center Corporation (ECMCC). This is a specialized technical position. The incumbent prepares patients, equipment and supplies following exam protocols, performs procedures and processes images, and participates in quality assurance testing as required by regulations. Work is performed under the general supervision of higher-level radiology personnel. Supervision is not a function of this position. Does related work as required.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Thorough knowledge of radiology; thorough knowledge of anatomical positioning; good knowledge of physiology; good knowledge of radiation safety; good knowledge of contrast safety; good knowledge of MRI and CT imaging procedures; good knowledge of contrast contra-indications; good knowledge of Hospital Information System (HIS)/Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and Picture Archive and Communication System (PACS); working knowledge of quality assurance testing and regulatory compliance tasks; working knowledge of sterile technique; skill in the operation of imaging, ancillary and processing equipment, ancillary devices and portable fluoroscopy units; ability to administer radiation for diagnostic purposes; ability to produce high quality MRI/CT images; ability to carry out complex oral and written instructions; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to get along well with patients and co-workers; ability to adjust and revise work schedule; good judgment; capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS as MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING (MRI) TECHNOLOGIST (Job Grade Rad Scale 3):
Graduation from an accredited school* of Radiologic Technology and one (1) year of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) or Computed Tomography (CT) experience.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS as MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING (MRI) TECHNOLOGIST TRAINEE (Job Grade Rad Scale 2):
Candidates must have graduated from an accredited school* of Radiologic Technology. After completion of the one (1) year training term and completion of special requirements, a trainee candidate shall be entitled to advance to permanent status as a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist (Job Group Rad Scale 3) without further examination.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR EITHER:
NOTE: Candidates must pass a safety and screening test for American College of Radiology MRI designated areas of Zone III (outside the immediate scanning area) and Zone IV (magnet room). Medical or electronic devices may interfere with the exam or potentially pose a risk. In consideration of the need for the safety of employees assigned to this area, random safety and screening will be performed.
