We’re looking for an Environmental Engineer, Scientist or Geologist to continue their career at Jacobs – where we’ll empower you to learn and grow in the delivery of environmental site characterization and remediation projects for government and global private-sector clients – to make our world better.

Based out of one of our metro D.C. area offices, you’ll work with other geologists, engineers, scientists, subject matter experts, and project managers on exciting projects in which you will learn from others and pass along your knowledge. You’ll work with a knowledgeable and supportive group of professional staff as you plan and execute field activities including well installation; soil, groundwater, surface water, and sediment sampling; and sampling other relevant media; conduct remediation system maintenance; prepare scopes of work for subcontracts; and coordinate with team. Office tasks include conducting data evaluation on field and laboratory data sets and preparing technical reports documenting completed field activities and sampling results.

Approximately 90% of your time will be spent on field project work (on job sites) and the other 10% of your time will consist of office work that will be completed in a Hybrid work environment (you’ll be afforded the flexibility to work from both the office and from home as best suited to meet project delivery goals while maintaining balance).

Here's what you'll need

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geology, environmental science or other closely related technical discipline
  • Professional experience with delivering environmental site characterization and remediation projects, including fieldwork methodology/procedures and assessment/evaluation of data for various environmental media
  • Experience working on project sites and overseeing subcontractors
  • Experience leading teams toward a common goal
  • 40-hr HAZWOPER certification or the ability to attain this certification
  • Willingness to perform field work and travel up to 90% (includes local travel in the metro D.C. area as well as travel outside of the region)
  • United States Citizenship
  • Ability to work in the metro D.C. area
  • Ideally, You’ll Also Have:
  • Master’s degree in engineering, geology, or other closely related degree
  • Professional registration (e.g., Professional Engineer or Professional Geologist) or the intent to obtain and maintain professional certification
  • Self-driven time management and organizational skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with coworkers, contractors, and clients
  • Strong attention to detail when conducting field work and evaluating data
  • Experience working on projects following the CERCLA or RCRA cleanup process

78,600.00

Posted Salary Range: Upper

The base salary range for this position is $78,600.00 to $110,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
