To drive excellence in this space, we established a global in-house User Experience (UX) team three years ago. Our mission is to champion User-Centered Design (UCD) across AZ and ensure that our digital solutions are not only functional, but also usable and desirable.

Today, our Global UX team includes approximately 20 specialists in UX Research, UX/UI Design, and Accessibility, based across the UK, US, Mexico, India, Spain, and China. We are a tight-knit, empowered, and growing team, passionate about delivering better experiences and making a meaningful impact on people’s lives. This role is a key part of that journey.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior UX/UI Designer to join our Shanghai team. In this role, you will lead and contribute to the design of innovative digital experiences across platforms, ensuring both outstanding usability and exceptional visual quality.

In addition to product design work, you will also support communication design initiatives, such as creating visual assets, promotional materials, infographics, and internal communications that clearly and creatively convey ideas.

Experience with video editing and motion graphics is highly desirable, as the role will occasionally involve producing short videos to support storytelling and engagement activities.

This is a hands-on role for someone who combines strong UX/UI craft, a passion for beautiful and effective visual communication, and a user-first mindset.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end UX/UI design process for digital products, delivering high-quality, user-centered solutions.
• Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, high-fidelity UI designs, and interactive specs.
• Ensure exceptional visual design quality, paying strong attention to layout, typography, color, iconography, and brand alignment.
• Develop communication design assets, including visual stories, infographics, presentation materials, and internal campaign graphics.
• Contribute to and help evolve the design system, ensuring a consistent and scalable visual language.
• Support the creation and editing of short videos and motion graphics to enhance communication initiatives.
• Work closely with UX researchers, developers, product managers, and business stakeholders to ensure the best outcomes.
• Mentor junior designers and help foster a culture of design excellence.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Visual Design, Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related field—or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience designing digital products, with a strong portfolio demonstrating both UX and visual design excellence.
• Advanced skills in Figma (preferred), Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite (especially Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere Pro).
• Solid understanding of UX principles, responsive design, and component-based systems.
• Strong visual storytelling skills, with an eye for aesthetics and details.
• Ability to create and edit short videos for communication purposes (basic motion graphic skills are a plus).
• Strong collaboration and communication skills; able to clearly present and justify design decisions to stakeholders.
• Fluent in Mandarin and proficient in English (written and verbal).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in communication design, branding, or marketing design for internal and external audiences.
• Familiarity with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and inclusive design practices.
• Experience working in agile environments and collaborating closely with development teams.
• Understanding of front-end development basics (HTML/CSS) is a plus.
