Indigo is working to harness nature to sustainably feed the planet.  We have discovered a transformational opportunity to improve global crop yield and reduce the use of agricultural chemicals and fertilizers by utilizing the core microbiome inside plants to confer material yield and crop protection benefits across a variety of crops, geographies and stresses.  The challenge and opportunity for Indigo is to gain critical first mover advantages by scaling quickly and effectively (~$1B 2020 revenue.)

The role of the Sales Operations and Customer Services Lead will be to facilitate the smooth execution of Indigo’s business model in Australia, to work closely alongside Head of Australia and Key Account Managers and to bridge the gap between Indigo, our growers and external partners. It is a role that is heavy on operations and processes with significant customer-facing interactions. It will encompass a wide range of responsibilities to the Indigo team, our partners and the Indigo growers.

 

We believe in an exceptional customer experience and the candidate will be a key interface in delivering our offer to a high level of quality, on-time and on-brand. The ideal candidate will exhibit the following:

Responsibilities: 

  • lead the middle and back office function as a key interface between customers and Indigo
  • excel in coordinating our customer relationships and proactively manage customer information via CRM systems, including Salesforce.com
  • ensure key project deliverables remain on track
  • show comfort and experience with a broad suite of commercial support tasks including: invoicing, shipments, imports/customs, contract management, grain/bale tendering; term sheet writing, credit check completion
  • demonstrate excellent attention to detail
  • show a disciplined track record in following established processes, and courage to optimize where necessary
  • have knowledge/aptitude of working through logistics and operational nitty-gritty to ensure the product’s smooth path between Boston laboratories and the farmer’s field
  • ideally have a background and some knowledge in agriculture: including experience in inter alia crop input technology, grain handling, interaction with commodity merchants
  • enjoy the challenge of being part of a young, rapidly-growing company
  • have a ‘can-do’ attitude where no task is too small
  • be comfortable in rural/agricultural environments, including travel to the countryside. Experience working with growers is a strong preference

Qualifications: 

  • 5 years of experience
  • Bachelors required, ideally with Ag Sci or Project Management exposure
  • Success in an administrative, customer-facing or logistics position
  • Familiarity with agriculture or rural sales/ distribution – ag experience a strong preference
  • Knowledge of seeds, crop input technology, ag commodities; logistics
  • Problem solver, flexible, proactive
  • Experience at a farm operations or farm management company a plus
  • Experience in cotton and cereals a plus
