Position Summary

Purpose 

As a Test Engineer for our Global Reliability Test Center, you'll be responsible for conducting Test based Verification and Validation of the System Requirements on our new products. The systems can range from Guided Vehicles (AGVs), Remotely Operated Vehicles/Vessels (ROVs), Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) or similar Electro-mechanical systems and various sub-systems or components to these systems like Batteries, Electrical hardware etc. You'll be designing and implementing tests to ensure that the Systems/Robots are reliable for field usage. In addition to solving key reliability issues, you'll have the opportunity to develop test infrastructure that will accelerate the pace of engineering development and validation for the robot.

Duties & Responsibilities

Functions

ESSENTIAL

  • Works on cross-disciplinary projects including software, mechanical, electrical, etc.
  • Lead and perform the development of test methods, test method validation, collection of functional/performance data, and report writing.
  • Define the strategy, set the requirements, conduct the tests, and interpret the results. Constantly refine the process focusing on completeness and timely execution.
  • Organize the Design Verification Tests (DVT) for any new electronics or product lines.

o Define all tests to be run, refers to applicable test standards

o Determine all the key equipment required to run the tests

o Determine the hardware required for testing

o Organize the tests to move the greatest technical risks earlier in the design cycle

o Optimize the tests to minimize the calendar time required to complete the entire test suite

o Predetermine pass/fail criteria and document them before tests are run

o Fully document each test procedure

o Evaluate results and make recommendations for follow-through

o Organize review sessions with experts when results are unclear or need additional interpretation

  • Organize and complete reliability testing, such as ALT, HALT, HASS and other screening tests designed to find weak points in the design and engineer more robust solutions. Identify and investigate any test equipment anomalies and offer/implement solutions.
  • Engineer will be involved in reading and implementing battery test standards while testing batteries.
  • Write protocols to support testing objectives under direction and in collaboration with Design, Quality and HSE teams.
  • Collaborate and guide the team of technicians and engineers to conduct testing. Directs Lab Technician and other support staff in test conduct and operation of the electro-mechanical lab equipment
  • Process change orders and controlled document releases and revisions.
  • Perform research on emerging and new process and methodologies in support of continuous improvement. Keep abreast of industry trends and issues.
  • Perform all other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
  • Liaise with external research agencies/vendors or Institutes as on need basis
  • Demonstrates high level of initiative to accomplish individual objectives assigned as well as team goals

Qualifications

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Post Graduation (Master degree) in Electrical Engineering, or Electronics & Communication, or equivalent degree with minimum four years of relevant industry experience, OR
  • Graduation (Bachelor degree) in Electrical Engineering, or Electronics & Communication, or equivalent degree with minimum six years of relevant industry experience

DESIRED

  • Hands-on experience with Electronic equipment, PCB and Battery testing with report delivery.
  • Hands on experience with use of sensors like RTDs, encoders, limit sensors etc. and sensor interface circuits
  • Hands on experience in Motor Drives and Power Electronics is desirable
  • Experience in operating hardware in the loop test systems is an advantage
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Good verbal and written English communication skills
  • Knowledge of operating with Data Acquisition system and software like Labview, Python etc.
  • Knowledge of MATLAB and/or any other simulation tool would be an advantage
  • Knowledge in Electro-Mechanical, Hydraulic and CAD drawings is necessary
  • Strong background in mathematics and/or statistics is highly desirable.
