Assists Manager with day-to-day operations within Connecticut Children’s Hospital Security Dispatch Communications Center. This critical role ensures routine and emergent calls are answered promptly, prioritized and dispatched accordingly. Maintains situational awareness to ensure the safety and security of patients, visitors and team members, as well as the hospital. Additional responsibilities include training team members, scheduling staff, managing communication systems, and assisting on developing workflow and policy and ensuring protocol adherence.
Supervisory/Leadership/Training Responsibilities (25%):
- Provides direction to of security officers / dispatchers who are assigned to dispatching duties
- Assists in the develop and implement dispatch training programs, ensuring staff proficiency in security systems and protocols.
- Schedule personnel and manage staffing needs.
- Assists in the establishment, update, and enforce of policies and procedures.
Technology and Systems Oversight (25%):
- Monitor and manage advanced communication and security technologies, including: CAD, RMS, fire alarms, cameras, and emergency broadcast systems.
- Troubleshoot and maintain Avigilon Camera System across hospital and offsite locations.
- Ensure communication equipment functionality, arranging repairs or replacements when required.
- Ability to work with access control systems.
Information Management and Reporting (25%):
- Document and log communications, incidents, and responses accurately for legal and procedural compliance.
- Generate regular activity reports for Dispatch Communications Center, submitting to Security Leadership.
- Manage access to hospital databases, handling sensitive information with confidentiality.
External and Internal Communications (25%):
- Serve as contact with external agencies (Local, State, and Federal), coordinating incident responses.
- Oversee Emergency “Blue Light "Call Boxes at hospital and offsite facilities, ensuring immediate response protocols.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience Required:
- Minimum 3 years work in or supervising a dispatch or communications role.
License and/or Certification Required:
- Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
Education and/or Experience Preferred:
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Healthcare experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge:
- Familiarity with CAD, RMS, Avigilon Camera Systems, and other security technologies with the ability to evaluate, learn and teach new security platforms. Strong command of Microsoft business applications.
- State of Connecticut Telecommunicator Certification or able to certification within six months
- Current Incident command training or able to obtain within six months:
