About the Federal Sector Field Technical Support Technician

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) is looking for a highly motivated and qualified individual to join our team. As a Federal Sector Field Technical Support Technician, you will be supporting HPE’s mission-critical customers in the Stennis Space Center area, near Slidell, LA. In this full-time position, you will provide installations, pro-active monitoring, and reactive break/fix support in an enterprise server, storage, and networking environment.

This position requires a current, active US Federal Top Secret clearance, or the ability to attain one. As a result, US citizenship is required.

This position:

  • will include a work schedule of Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, but will participate on a rotation basis in after-hours / on-call coverage
  • will, on a regular basis, routinely lift and carry 50+ pounds without assistance
  • will require a customer background check and fingerprinting for a site access badge


  • Maintain high-level customer satisfaction by clarifying customer needs and ensuring that they are met
  • Provide customer with overview of monitoring, troubleshooting and repair activities
  • Respond to service, product, technical, and customer relations questions
  • Handle customer-relation problems promptly and appropriately, providing guidance and escalating issues according to established procedures
  • Act creatively to resolve complex customer issues
  • Provide service delivery support
  • Deliver services, including customized services, to a large enterprise account
  • Use proactive monitoring procedures/tools to identify problem prevention opportunities
  • Participate in on-site account support meetings both internal and external
  • Demonstrate consistent, acceptable performance of all business fundamentals
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Currently holds a TS security clearance, or is willing to undergo the screening process and is able to successfully attain the clearance
  • US citizenship is required

Education and Experience Required

  • 4+ years' experience troubleshooting enterprise computer technologies; experience in enterprise servers and storage strongly preferred
  • Associate’s (or higher level) degree, in computer technologies preferred
  • Without an Associate’s or higher level degree, an additional 2 years’ relevant experience, for a total of 6+ years

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Ability to troubleshoot in a multi-technology environment, with the ability to diagnose complex technical problems to their root cause
  • Ability to develop solutions to complex technical problems in a mission critical environment
  • Proficient Field Technical Support skill set
  • Knowledge of assigned HPE/SGI hardware system platforms (ICE 8600, OPA switches/networks and DDN storage) preferred
  • Familiar with networking and all supported operating system platforms (i.e. Linux, Windows, etc.)
  • Knowledge of high availability system environments
  • Demonstrated ability to be a liaison between HPE and the customer for hardware system support
  • Ability to perform well under high-pressure situations
  • Works well independently with little supervision
  • Excellent communication and customer relation skills.
