QUALIFICATIONS: A four-year degree from an accredited institution with certi?cation in an assigned area of teaching. Ten years of teaching experience and experience within the last 5 years preferred.

REPORTS TO: Beginning Teacher Support Coordinator

JOB GOAL: To support and retain Beginning and International teachers to impact student learning.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

PALS will demonstrate the value of lifelong learning and encourage their teachers to learn and grow by:

Observing and supporting Beginning and International teachers in their classrooms. Providing support and feedback on classroom management and instructional strategies.

Assist Beginning and International teachers with basic organizational skills for not only their classroom, but basic school organization tips.

Attend Professional Learning Community (PLC) and other collaborative meetings to best support their teachers.

Provide input on the BT/Mentor Feedback log within 24 hours of observing teachers.

Coach and model for the teacher using consistent and authentic strategies that are proven to work and align with CCS’ instructional framework.

Accompany teachers on model classroom observations, debrief to discuss application, and implementation of strategies observed.

Build a relationship with assigned teachers using the Interest Inventory to determine strengths and weaknesses and how best to support them.

Attend monthly PALS meetings led by BT/IT Facilitator and BT Coordinator.

Complete timesheets in a timely manner by the due date.

Communicate with instructional leaders at the school and with the BT Office on the progress/needs of the Beginning and International teachers assigned to you.

Serves as a team player and role model for other employees in the organization; demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement; supports and exhibits organizational core values of caring, respect, integrity, responsibility, high expectations, being customer-driven, and valuing fairness.

Performs other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to communicate orally and in writing with school leaders and BT office when necessary

Must have ?nger dexterity and be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of kneeling, sitting, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license and social security card. These must be on file with the Human Resources office.

  • A screening process for PALS will occur twice yearly in February and July. As vacancies occur, qualified applicants will be hired and placed.
