Job Summary: We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Manufacturing Systems Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. This role is crucial in the design, implementation, optimization, and support of our manufacturing technology infrastructure, ensuring efficient and effective production processes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of manufacturing principles, automation technologies, and IT systems, with a passion for driving continuous improvement through technological solutions.
Major Responsibilities/Activities:
- Design, develop, implement, and maintain manufacturing IT systems, including but not limited to Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), automation control systems (PLC/SCADA), data acquisition systems, and related software applications.
- Collaborate with manufacturing operations, manufacturing engineering, quality assurance, and IT teams to understand business needs and translate them into effective system solutions.
- Lead and participate in the implementation and integration of new manufacturing technologies and systems.
- Configure and program industrial automation equipment and control systems as needed.
- Develop and maintain system documentation, including functional specifications, system architecture diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to manufacturing systems hardware and software, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Provide production warehouse management support including label creation and data accuracy
- Develop and implement data collection strategies to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide insights for process optimization.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging technology to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure the security, reliability, and integrity of manufacturing systems data.
- Develop systems/processes to utilize ERP data to drive manufacturing processes
- Provide technical training and support to manufacturing personnel on the use of new and existing systems.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in manufacturing technologies and best practices.
- Manage small to medium-sized projects related to manufacturing systems upgrades and implementations.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.
Minimum Requirements:
- 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on implementing and supporting manufacturing IT systems.
- Proven experience with at least one major Manufacturing Execution System (MES) platform.
- Strong understanding of industrial automation concepts, including PLC/SCADA systems and communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Modbus).
- Experience with data acquisition systems and database management.
- Proficiency in programming languages relevant to industrial automation (e.g., ladder logic, scripting languages).
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, including electrical schematics and network diagrams.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Requirements
- Experience with Ignition MES platform.
- Knowledge of data analytics and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Qlick, Tableau).
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and methodologies.
- Experience with ERP system integration with manufacturing systems.
- Project management experience.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices in an industrial environment.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Computer) or a related technical field.
