About the Job

We’re looking for experienced manual Quality Assurance testers to join our engineering development team as part of our quest to build the best learning platform in the world. You will work closely with developers to build and document test plans for new features, then execute those test plans independently in our development, pre-production and production environments.

Our QAs are our final authority in the process of building high quality releases of our learning management system: you have the final technical say in whether a software module is suitable for promotion to the next higher environment.

QAs also work closely with our SDET and Automation engineers to build automations of the tests that the QAs develop to promote consistent regression.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Creates and documents test plans on applications and related technology to verify that the business, technical and functional requirements are being met through the software development lifecycle.
  • Work with developers to ensure the developers are executing test plans and documenting results during the development phase.
  • Conducts end-to-end testing according to the test plan, files bug reports and has the initiative to go “off script” in pursuit of uncovering obscure boundary defects.
  • Executes test plans in an effort to identify defects prior to production.
  • Advise SDET and Automation engineers on the creation of automation for their test plans
  • May also include Production Certification which requires manual/automated scripts be executed to certify production health and/or identify post-production defects

Qualifications

  • Manual and Cypress Automation testing and thorough knowledge around testing methodologies.
  • Strong web services testing experience.
  • 4+ years of Quality Assurance experience
  • Hands-on experience in test automation of APIs, webservices and Microservices.
  • Experience working with UI automation tool like Cypress is a plus
  • Proficient in defect tracking/Quality assurance tools such as JIRA.
  • Competent technical skills and good time management skills.
  • Ability to work in a team and individually.
  • Experience with QA processes and deliverables in an Agile/SCRUM environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively to varying audiences
  • Well-versed with all stages of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC)

Working conditions

This role is a full-time salaried position. Work hours for this position are flexible and will be performed from a home office.

Physical requirements

The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer screen, extensive reading, and visual inspection involving small defects. This is sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 lbs of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
