Job Overview
As the Senior Associate Workers Compensation & Leave Analyst, you will serve as a resource for all DFW board employees, managers, HRBPs and third-party administrators to ensure compliance and efficiency to support the leave and injury management process, tracking workplace accommodations, and a smooth return to work process. Under the general direction of the Assistant Vice President, this position is responsible for the management and monitoring of the workers compensation program and the process for employee accommodations requested under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
What you will be doing:
- Serves as a subject matter expert for the leave and workers’ compensation programs aligning with internal policy and federal state laws (FMLA, ADA, PWFA, OSHA, Texas Department of Insurance Workers Compensation, and Texas First Responder statutes related to leave of absence and workers compensation)
- Conducts initial fact gathering of workers’ compensation claims. Works closely with the safety team to identify, research and resolve matters.
- Coordinates leave requests and ADA accommodations based on medical documentations and legal standards. Partners with Human Resources Business Partners to resolve cases and support return to work strategies.
- Analyzes information, uses judgement and provides recommendations for approval and/or denial of workers’ compensation claims, leave cases and ADA accommodation requests based on relevant incident and medical information.
- Manages the coordination of and organizes all medical information and ensures that HIPAA and Employee Privacy guidelines are adhered to, closely monitored and effectively executed.
- Tracks and analyzes leave and workers’ compensation claims to include tracking hours used/taken by working closely with the HR and Payroll to ensure that pay for employees is accurate.
- Prepares and presents reports as requested to various audiences, including, but not limited to, department leadership and division senior leaders regarding metrics and analytics on leave cases and accommodations and workers comp claims.
- Responds to work related injury/incident calls on a 24x7 basis, as needed.
- Conducts investigations regarding incidents, interviews relevant parties and coordinates medical treatment/care as needed.
- Assists in the creation and facilitation of leave administration, ADA accommodations, return to work and workers’ compensation training programs.
What you need:
- Bachelor’s degree with major in Insurance, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Three (3) years of experience in risk control (safety, claim) workers’ compensation, or leave administration
- Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
