Job summary

The Red Hat Sales team is looking for a Senior Sales Manager for Telco to join us in Mumbai or New Delhi, India. In this role, you will guide and grow the business within telecommunications (Telco) providers across India by engaging and meeting with customers and demonstrating that Red Hat solutions match their needs and expectations. You will lead the local India Telco team account managers and other Telco solutions architects to define plans, tactics, and strategies to support customers on technical solutions from Red Hat. You'll also guide sales teams in developing opportunities for Telco, including presenting Red Hat solutions and technologies to Telco partners and customers.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Bring subject matter expertise and relationships within the Indian Telco business to Red Hat and identify and engage various opportunities to develop Red Hat's Telco business in India and South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC)
  • Motivate, coach, mentor, and lead sales teams to grow existing accounts and capture new business by developing effective and industry-specific sales strategies
  • Design strategic sales plans through competitive analysis, customer segmentation, and thoughtful product positioning
  • Provide disciplined, ethical, and focused leadership to the Sales team that will foster success based on culture of respect for customers, associates, and Red Hat values
  • Evangelize the Red Hat value proposition with customers, industry bodies, and the partner ecosystem
  • Promote the creation of a pipeline and support sales closures of critical or strategic opportunities
  • Play a practical role within the Field Sales team by maintaining a personal presence and being highly visible through direct customer engagements in the field
  • Coordinate with other business development professionals in other Red Hat regions to ensure best practice for the sales engagement process
  • Promote the adoption of Red Hat solutions, technologies, and services capabilities in the marketplace
  • Work closely to develop and nurture the partner ecosystem required for the business

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or a technical discipline; MBA is preferred
  • Solid understanding of and experience in selling Telco software solutions, preferably with prior experience in the emerging Network Function Virtualization (NFV) space
  • 10-15 years of solid leadership skills in a technology sales organization (software is highly preferred), with demonstrated success achieving sales targets and fulfilling in both direct and channel routes-to-market
  • 5+ years of sales management experience in Telco sales teams across India
  • Successful track record of delivering on growth-oriented sales and business development targets
  • Excellent planning, financial, and analytical skills, and proven ability to apply these skills to complex situations with competing priorities
  • Good customer orientation and presentation skills
  • Ability to articulate and evangelize the vision and positioning of both Red Hat and open source technology, and secure long-term customer commitments
  • Ability to partner with senior business leaders to understand needs and deliver solutions that meet expectations
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and design novel approaches that balance local customer needs with corporate guidelines and philosophies
  • Experience building and developing successful relationships within Telco carriers, SIs, ISVs, and partners
