Regions Hospital is looking for a Lead EMT/Dispatcher to join our HealthPartners Medical Transportation (HPMT) team.
Responsibilities:
This position requires assessment, coordination, and prioritization of care of a patient prior to, during, and after HPMT staff arrival. Responsibilities include leading the day-to-day operations of the department including dispatching crews to requests for transportation. Communicating with other medical staff, EMS and police personnel, as necessary, and observing, participating and managing overall patient care to facilitate care and resolve issues or potential problems as needed.
The Lead EMT/Dispatcher will provide work direction to EMTs; providing a safe environment; coordinate, communicate, interpret, and explain patient care services to the patient, family, EMS personnel and health professionals; if certified as an EMT or Paramedic, the Lead EMT/Dispatcher will perform and document dependent functions such as carrying out EMS Medical Directors medical orders and performing diagnostic and treatment procedures.
The Lead EMT/Dispatcher may be responsible for reviewing each day’s transports in the ePCR system for accuracy of demographic and clinical documentation. The Lead EMT/Dispatcher will also directly supervise EMT staff and will participate in the annual performance evaluation process.
If certified as an EMT or Paramedic, when acting as an EMT/Paramedic crew member, they will determine the most appropriate and safest way of transporting patient to the destination. The Lead EMT/Dispatcher will demonstrate safe driving skills and communicate with dispatch and/or receiving facility in a professional manner. The Lead EMT/Dispatcher will accurately document patient care in the approved ePCR system.
