About the role:

We are looking for a global leader with proven experience in the startup ecosystem to lead MongoDB’s efforts targeting startups, to deepen and accelerate MongoDB adoption, and to enable faster time-to-market and product market fit for the participating startups.

In this role, you will be responsible for driving and executing MongoDB’s startup strategy, including the business development with investors, accelerators and partners, the MongoDB for Startups program, and the cross-functional collaboration within MongoDB teams on driving success with startups. MongoDB is a popular data platform with developers in companies of all size, the mission of the cross-functional startup team is to aggressively grow adoption in early-stage companies, by developing and managing relationships with VCs, accelerators and cloud partners, driving programmatic engagement of startups at scale, and targeted business development in select startup hubs around the world.

MongoDB Atlas is a prominently featured benefit in the startup programs of AWS, Microsoft and Google, and you are responsible for deepening these partnerships and driving even better alignment across the global programs, digital experience and teaming in the field. 

You have a proven track record with creating and delivering value to startups, founders, and investors, and with developing and growing relationships, a hands-on approach to developing and executing programs, technical acumen, and work cross functionally in a fast paced work environment.

Your mission:

  • Grow and accelerate adoption of MongoDB by startups globally, with strategic focus in US, Israel and India
  • Promote MongoDB’s AI offerings and solutions to startups, and drive adoption of MongoDB’s data platform as a core component of AI-powered solutions
  • Deepen MongoDB’s startup ecosystem engagement - with VCs, startup accelerators and MongoDB’s cloud partners - driving technology adoption, customer success and business growth
  • Drive deeper engagement of the relevant MongoDB functions and regional customer-facing teams with select could-be-unicorn startups and VC partners on technology adoption and partnership opportunities
  • Lead the global startup team and the cross-functional collaboration across MongoDB on executing programs and initiatives driving growth

What you will be doing:

  • Own the MongoDB for Startups program, its benefits and customer journey, as well as MongoDB’s program for VC partners
  • Lead startup acquisition and engagement in a cross-functional matrix organization spanning Partner, Ventures, Marketing and Sales, globally
  • Business development and active partnership management with VC partners and startup accelerators, with initial focus on Israel, India and the US
  • Drive and execute deep partnerships with MongoDB cloud partners on startup acquisition and engagement
  • Drive identification and prioritization of potential unicorn startups for deeper technical and relationship engagement
  • Operational management and reporting of key initiatives, KPI and OKR

Qualifications:

  • Energetic, resourceful, upbeat, entrepreneurial, tenacious team player
  • Deep experience in working closely with the startup ecosystem, including founders, investors and startup programs of technology vendors
  • 10+ years of experience with business development, and the creation and execution of programs. 
  • Understanding & knowledge of the data platform market, its trends, and key concerns for early-stage digital-native companies. 
  • Proven experience developing successful and scalable partnership programs
  • Proven ability to open doors, network and forge relationships 
  • Prior experience selling with and to technology companies 
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and influence C-level executives.
  • Relevant experience and knowledge of open source software, enterprise software apps, SaaS, Database or Cloud Computing
  • Consistent goal achievement in a highly competitive environment 
  • Ability to articulate the business value of complex enterprise technology through presentation, verbal and written communication 
  • Proven ability to structure proposals and build joint business plans 
  • Strong program and project management skills, ability to direct cross-functional processes and teams with timely deliverables 
  • College degree in business, economics, engineering, finance, science, math or similar 
  • Possess aptitude to learn quickly and establish credibility. High EQ and self-aware
  • The ability to work in fast paced environment, be trusted to drive initiatives autonomously and gain buy in from a wide collection of stakeholders
  • Passionate about growing your career in the largest market in software and developing and maintaining an in-depth understanding of MongoDB products

Administrative:

  • Reporting into the VP, Partner Ecosystem
  • Managing a small globally distributed team of dedicated resources, and cross-functional initiatives 
  • Base Salary + Variable (measured on startup program acquisition and graduation to paying customers, revenue thresholds, and specific product adoption goals)

Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package. Other benefits for eligible employees may include: equity, participation in the employee stock purchase program, flexible paid time off, 20 weeks fully-paid gender-neutral parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, 401(k) plan, mental health counseling, access to transgender-inclusive health insurance coverage, and health benefits offerings. Please note, the base salary range listed below and the benefits in this paragraph are only applicable to U.S.-based candidates.

MongoDB’s base salary range for this role in the U.S. is:

$153,600—$192,000 USD
