Principal Software Development Engineer (AWS Cloud Software with Data Ontology and Knowledge Graphs) - Join Us in Vancouver, BC

We are thrilled to offer an exceptional opportunity for a Staff Software Development Engineer specializing in AWS-based cloud software with a strong background in data ontology and knowledge graphs. This position is in our Vancouver, BC office within our Emerging Platforms Team. Your role will be pivotal in advancing our cloud software solutions, incorporating sophisticated data structures and knowledge representation.

What You'll Do

Develop Advanced Cloud Solutions: Apply your deep knowledge of AWS to build robust, scalable cloud software. Your expertise in data ontology and knowledge graphs will be key to developing innovative data-driven solutions.

Lead in Technical Innovation: Guide the technical trajectory of our projects with a focus on advanced data structures, ensuring adherence to best practices in cloud software and data management.

Collaborate and Influence: Engage with cross-functional teams, including product managers and data scientists, to develop software that meets and exceeds user experience expectations and business objectives.

Mentor with Expertise: Share your specialized knowledge in data ontology and knowledge graphs, mentoring junior and intermediate engineers and fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.

Preferred Qualifications 

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise: 

  • 10+ years of professional software development experience with a proven track record in complex software projects. 
  • Expertise in AWS services and cloud architecture, particularly for software development, scalability, and data management. 
  • Proficiency in building and maintaining Knowledge Graphs and managing Data Ontology, including a strong understanding of semantic web technologies. 
  • Deep understanding of W3C standards related to ontologies, specifically RDF, RDFS, OWL, SKOS, and SHACL, with practical experience in creating robust ontologies, implementing them with actual data, and deriving business value from the Enterprise Knowledge Graph. 
  • Experience with graph databases such as AWS Neptune or Neo4J, demonstrating strong capability in handling complex data structures. 
  • Experience in integrating cloud-based services and APIs. 
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and principles, including continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD). 
  • Experience with Docker and other containerization technologies for cloud software deployment and environment management. 
  • Strong knowledge of data security and privacy best practices in a cloud environment. 
  • Experience with scalable database technologies, data modeling, and management techniques relevant to knowledge graphs and data ontology.
