Job Summary:

Technical specialist and primary customer support contact to diagnose and execute complex repairs to engine products at the customer’s site.

We are looking for a talented Field Service Power Generation Technician/Mechanic to join our Distribution Business in (Salt Lake City, UT).

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Completing repair activities on generators or components
  • Engaging with customers in a courteous and professional manner
  • Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
  • Maintain detailed records of service
  • Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
  • Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products
  • Maintain own tools

External Qualifications and Competencies

In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Broad mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance abilities.
  • High Voltage / Low Voltage experience.
  • Advanced experience with electrical repair and maintenance
  • Proficient Diesel Engine experience.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and repairs of generators, transfer switches, and auxiliary components.
  • Setup, troubleshoot and repair basic paralleling generator systems.
  • Understanding switchgear schematics.
  • Ability to train Entry/Intermediate Technicians/Mechanics.

Additional Responsibilities Unique to this Position

Must be self motivated.

High organizational skills.

Strong diagnostic skills on fuel systems, aftertreatment systems, and electrical systems.

CDL preferred, but not required.

High horsepower experience preferred, but not required.

Preferred residence would be north of Salt Lake City, UT.

DOT

  • A CDL may be required to obtain upon hire
  • Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older
  • A current valid license is required for this role
  • This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations
  • This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical
  • 3 years driving experience
  • This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use
  • Federal law requires operators of commercial vehicles to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age
  • This position is subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre-employment drug testing requirements. This roll will be subject to on-going random drug and alcohol testing.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)

Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution

Locally valid driving permit

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

Significant field service work experience

Expert level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products

Customer service experience

Experience providing technical advice and coaching to more junior technicians (preferred)

Salary rate commensurate with experience.
