Group Description: The Asia Cross-Border Advisory Group at Evercore focuses on advising corporate and private equity clients on strategic cross-border transactions with respect to Asian markets, particularly China, Japan, South Korea and India. The group is based in New York, Hong Kong, Beijing and Tokyo, and actively works with various offices across the firm, including the Americas, Europe, MENA and the APAC region. The group’s core sector focus includes Consumer, Healthcare, TMT and Industrials. The group is also increasingly leading new strategic business and client coverage initiatives in select emerging verticals, in coordination with relevant senior bankers and industry groups. The group works with Evercore’s alliance partners in South Korea and India, as well as its affiliate advisory firm in Australia. Lastly, the group also plays a leading role in the firm’s coverage of Asian private equity clients, particularly in the Chinese market.

What is the position? Evercore seeks to hire an experienced Associate (preferably Associate 1 or 2) for its Asia Cross-Border Advisory group in Beijing, China.

Primary Responsibilities: Evercore's unique market position provides Associates the ability to work closely with senior bankers on industry-defining transactions in markets around the world. The lean transaction team structure provides the Associate with a strong platform to learn investment banking and assume high levels of responsibility at early stages of their careers. The Associate must demonstrate strong technical and entrepreneurial skills with the ability to work on several projects concurrently. Candidate should possess the desire to work on a variety of assignments including M&A advisory, capital raise, and strategic business development initiatives in emerging business areas. As part of the team assigned to these projects, individuals will be responsible for a variety of tasks including: preparing for and attending client meetings, performing financial valuation, conducting industry analysis, support deal execution and investor outreach, due diligence as well as new client development. The role will involve communicating and working with members of various industry groups and offices within Evercore’s global network. The Associate will be an integral member of a highly dynamic and collaborative team environment, and will have strong exposure to senior bankers across the firm.

Specific Qualifications: Candidates must have a strong interest in investment banking with solid analytical skills and entrepreneurial drive, with the ability to think broadly about a range of strategic issues confronting the firm’s clients. Knowledge of valuation, financial modeling, and business strategy is a must. Responsibilities for an Associate include managing analysts, overseeing financial and valuation analysis, industry and competitive analysis, due diligence, drafting client presentation materials, management and execution of live deals, and assistance with new business development.
