Job Description

At the Diagnostics and Genomics division we offer our valued customers a variety of high-quality workflow solutions for various applications. More importantly, we work closely to build a customised lab environment, with the help from our Field Application Scientists team with years of experience within Genomics.

We are now seeking a hardworking and engaged professional to join our growing team. An exciting role that will offer you the opportunity to continue to feed your curiosity, and expand on your knowledge in Genomics and being exposed to state of the art innovative technology.

As the Field Application Scientist you will be involved in pre-sales activities in collaboration with the Benelux sales team with focus on pre-sales, revenue generating potential. Handling the implementation of the application meeting customers' specific needs, provide wet-lab and technical education of our genomics workflow solutions across Research and Clinical laboratory environments. You will be based remotely, travelling to customer locations and Agilent internal meetings. Candidates are preferably located in Belgium or the Netherlands.

Role Overview And Responsibilities Include The Following

To be successful in this role you will apply your knowledge and hands-on experience in techniques which includes Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS), micro-arrays, and qPCR based applications.

  • Supporting the Genomics sales force to reach their quota for assigned territories
  • Act as a scientific consultant for the Genomics customers delivering technical expertise for solution implementation based on Agilent products and services
  • Participate and facilitate in the design and delivery of sales trainings, customer specific one-to-one consulting and workshops
  • Represent Agilent on relevant scientific events (e.g. as speaker during conferences, seminars) in close collaboration with the EMEA Marketing Managers
  • Maintain and expand critical scientific knowledge in the latest scientific findings, market & technology trends, industry benchmarks & regulations, competitive positioning
  • Actively share scientific relevant information with Field Application Scientist colleagues within and outside the region

Qualifications

  • A university degree in biology, biotechnology or in similar field
  • Lab experience with NGS applications including library preparation techniques, target enrichment methods and familiarity with performing basic NGS data analysis, micro-arrays an/or qPCR.
  • Experience with Agilent products is a plus
  • Knowledge or Experience working in a clinical lab 
  • Excellent interpersonal communication-, presentation- and training-skills
  • Must be an excellent teammate, and able to meet key timelines while handling several different projects simultaneously

Apart from these more technical skills, you should also have:

  • Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English, skills in Dutch or Flemish is a plus
  • Willingness to travel on average 50% across Benelux
  • A logical approach to problem-solving
  • Enjoys working in the lab, and wants to apply and develop their skills in a fast-paced R&D environment
  • Familiarity with the regulatory and diagnostics needs in a clinical lab environment
  • The ability to coordinate and prioritise your workload efficiently
  • The skills to handle and balance customer requirements with Agilent's business needs.
