Kamatics, a division of Kaman, specializes in self-lubricating bearings and engineered products. We have a great opportunity for a dynamic and motivated CNC Machinist to join our team in Bloomfield, CT on 2nd shift. The core hours for the position are 3:15 PM - 12:45 AM and we are currently running one hour of mandatory overtime, offered at the end of the shift for a required 45 hours a week. Overtime pay is 1.5x the hourly rate for all hours in excess of 40 in a week.

Responsibilities:

  • With limited technical supervision, checks out programming, sets up, operates and adjusts computer numerically controlled machine tools to perform a series of progressive machining operations on repetitive work to close and exacting tolerances and finish specifications
  • Works from programs, operation sheets, and machine setup instructions
  • Self-sufficient with material clamping methods, machine adjustments/offsets and console settings
  • Operations include drilling, honing, boring, milling and turning, screw machine operation, etc., on routine and repetitive operations

Education:

  • High School diploma/GED
  • Machining Training Certificate preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a CNC Machinist II or minimum of 2 years manufacturing experience as a CNC machinist

Skills / Knowledge

  • Understanding of Common GD&T restraints such as runout, concentricity, and Parallelism
  • Proficient in use of shop math
  • Limited technical supervision
  • Requires knowledge of machining techniques such as cutting jaws, touching tools off and tramming fixtures
  • Familiarity with computer numerically controlled machine tool operating procedures such as dry run, geometry and wear offsets, MDI functions and basic G codes
