This opportunity entails being responsible for participation in all phases of project development including full technical support of the architecture as well as incorporation of all disciplines involved with the design. Serves as a resource to the project designer and project manager as the design is developed. The role includes serving as the lead technical architect on small to medium sized projects and assisting the Sr. Project Architect on large projects.

A motivated and proactive professional who will initially support the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s Aviation Planning Division. The individual will encounter a wide variety of projects at different phases of project development. As an agent of our client, the candidate will serve as an aviation planner as well as provide full technical support as an architect. Tasks and projects can include technical reviews of tenant project applications and capital projects, quick turnaround analyses in support of airport operations, long term planning studies and requests from other departments, airlines, or facilities. A passion for aviation, architecture and solving problems is desired. Position office located at 4 World Trade Center, 150 Greenwich Street, New York City. Field Office located at the WTC with occasionally travel to PANYNJ airports for work assignments as required (a driver license may be needed)

What You'll Do:

  • Develops and presents lead technical viewpoint on projects and ensures HNTB systems are used to deliver the design in a standardized manner.
  • Ensures that a technical solution consistent with the program and design is properly developed and produced. Integrates quality control measures during all phases of design.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert on architectural projects of small to medium size and assists on larger projects.
  • Works closely with the project designer and manager in planning and implementing all work processes in consideration of budgets and schedules. Work includes preparing work plans, estimating hours to complete tasks, developing project reports, managing consultant team members (including coordination and incorporation of all work products) and reviewing invoices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture
  • 5 years related experience
  • Revit skills
  • RA

Primary Focus Will Include:

  • Tenant Alteration Application Review
  • Capital Project Document Review
  • Level of Service Analysis of Terminal Processors and Function Areas
  • Comment Writing
  • Document Control, Coordination and Presentations of Reviewer Comments
  • Other Miscellaneous Tasks and Assignments, including:
  • Airside Related Tasks
  • Updating Airport Layout Plan (ALP)
  • Creating Indexes and Organizing Files
  • Writing White Papers on Observed Issues / lessons learned
  • Writing Passages, Preparing Exhibits for Airport Planning Standards
  • Master Planning

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Understanding of applicable Port Authority Standards and Manuals as well as other Industry Standards (ACRP, IATA, FAA).
  • Architectural background/degree preferred, but other planning/engineering background/degree will be considered with appropriate application aviation experience
  • Aviation / terminal related planning background is preferred
  • AutoCAD required for studies and analysis - Renderings are preferred but not necessary
  • Revit experience preferred but not required
  • Excel
  • 5-10 years of experience
  • Professional license preferred but not required

The approximate pay range for New York City metro area is $96,305.93 - $150,632.34. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
