Job Summary:
Interviews patients and records their medical history and physical condition. Obtains patient vital signs, including pulse, blood pressure, temperature, and respiration. Provides routine care for patients. Observes patients' health. Assists the RN and medical staff by administering medications as prescribed, updating patient records and educating patients/caregivers in disease management and post-hospital treatment. Helps maintain a safe patient environment.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Interviews patient about current problems, medications, and allergies and reviews the medical record for pertinent previous and current information.
- Participates in patient treatment regimen, including administering medications (under the supervision of a registered nurse.
- Performs nursing interventions and provides personal care to patients with basic and complex nursing and medical conditions, under the general direction of the registered nurse and according to a plan of care which has been created by the registered nurse.
- Documents provided care accurately and timely utilizing the EMR systems.
- Maintains password controls as required by policy.
- Applies preventive nursing measures in giving care to patients.
- Maintains correct body alignment in a variety of positions, changing positions and maintaining range of motion to moveable parts. Knows and is able to initiate interventions and perform effectively in emergency situations. CPR certification is maintained.
- Reports malfunctioning equipment and/or inadequate supplies appropriately.
- Practices established infection control practices to decrease the spread of disease.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Required Minimum Education:
- Diploma (Nurse) Nursing or Other / Certificate Nursing
Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
- BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor or BLS - Basic Life Support
- LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse
Required Minimum Experience:
- Minimum 1 year Patient care Required
Required Minimum Skills:
- Knowledge of general patient care and ability to perform nursing procedures
