Essential Responsibilities

The Senior Service Manager demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional areas of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy.

  • Strategic Leadership:
  • Integrates and develops service processes aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Leads the execution of the Services growth strategy through strategic planning and initiatives.
  • Contributes to the overall business strategy by identifying growth opportunities and providing expert insights.
  • Customer Relationship Management:
  • Builds and cultivates strong, long-term relationships with key regional customers.
  • Understands customer needs and develops solutions that exceed expectations.
  • Provides comprehensive services including technical support, project management, and maintenance.
  • Field Service Management:
  • Leads and manages field resources, optimizing workload and ensuring efficient service delivery.
  • Provides coaching and career development opportunities for field service engineers.
  • Implements and enforces safety policies and regulations, fostering a culture of safety.
  • Technical Expertise:
  • Manages the repair, overhaul, dismantling, and assembly of large rotating machines.
  • Conducts inspections and performs maintenance activities on large rotating machines, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Assesses the health of electrical machines and implements condition monitoring practices.
  • Collaborates with vendors for the repair and maintenance of electrical machines.
  • Reviews customer requests for proposals (RFPs) and develops compelling technical proposals.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Mentors team members and fosters a collaborative work environment.
  • Effectively communicates with project managers, sourcing specialists, engineers, and factories across the globe.
  • Possesses a deep understanding of various standards relevant to motor/generator design (e.g., NEMA, API, IEC, ABS, ANSI, CSA, DIN, DNV, Lloyds, Ex).

Qualification/ Requirements

  • Education:
  • Master's or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience:
  • 15+ years of experience in:
  • Field service and maintenance of large rotating machinery, including repair, overhaul, dismantling, and assembly.
  • Condition monitoring and health assessment of electrical machines.
  • Project management, including developing and managing service solutions, creating technical proposals, and building cost sheets.
  • Technical Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of operating principles, maintenance practices, and troubleshooting techniques for large rotating machines.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g., NEMA, API, IEC, ABS, ANSI, CSA, DIN, DNV, Lloyds, Ex).
  • Strong understanding of stator and electrical insulation, stator rewinding, rotor balancing, and vibration analysis.
  • Experience working with vendor partners for equipment repairs and maintenance.
  • Business Skills:
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, engineers, project managers, and vendors.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic service initiatives, contributing to the company's growth objectives.

Desired Characteristics

  • Design and/or servicing of large Electrical rotating machines such as Induction, Synchronous DFIG, PMG machines.
  • Experience in using Lean tools for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to design, sell and implement process improvements.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Proactive self-starter and change agent & ability to work under stress environment.
  • Cross functional, ability to work on matrix environment, and international team experience.
