Responsibilities & Deliverables: 

The Senior Network Engineer position provides technical engineering to ensure that appropriate Network technologies are selected and implemented within the organization. Based on identified requirements, the Network Engineer evaluates new technology alternatives and provides technical recommendations to select the most appropriate solutions.  Reporting to the Manager, Network and Telecom, the incumbent is well versed in technologies implemented within the organization and available in the market place. This position is a key contributor to the overall direction of the Network Department and is responsible for ensuring that the organization is technically well positioned for the future and supported for project delivery, escalation and production issues at the highest level.  This will include implementation and planning services onsite and remotely for Finastra Initiatives.

Enablement of customer focused security, connectivity, wireless and network infrastructure for our internal customers and their external customers (30% of time)

Monitor and control budget of assigned projects, potential to execute $1M or larger in some cases.  Work with specification, re-use and partner with the project management and leadership team to control fiscal performance of projects and accountable environments. (10% of time)

Provide expert guidance to the business and technology leadership team on current and future environments.  Provide consultation on how to best leverage existing investments to grow Finastras’s business portfolio specifically in the areas of security, network, wireless and connectivity / partner products. (30% of time)

Influence and mentor peers in the Network group as well as other teams on your areas of expertise, and experience.  Provide growth support for engineering and level 2 support teams to help develop our maturing team. (10% of time)

Understand and manage owned risks in your accountable environments and assigned projects.  Ensure corporate currency standards, security, DR and resiliency standards are maintained and supported in existing and new environments. (20% of time)

Required Experience:

5-8 years of experience in a similar role

College diploma or Bachelor degree in field of Computer Science or Electrical Engineering

Cisco CCNP Certification or CCIE (Routing & Switching, Security)

Excellent written and verbal skills with proven ability to effectively present to Executive-level

Expert understanding of current Cisco, Juniper, F5 platforms and how to leverage them for network integration and optimization.

Solid understanding of network engineering including routing, switching, virtual networking, firewalls and load balancers

Self-reliant, good problem solver, results oriented

Strong attention to detail with a demonstrated ability to deliver medium to large project results, and ongoing system stability.

6+ years network architecture, security and engineering

CCNA, CCNP, CCIP, CCDP (CCIE certification is highly desired) CISSP or

GIAC (Required) BS in Computer Science or related discipline Very

Strong Layer 2 & 3 networking skills, Load Balancing Strong WAN

Expertise, MPLS, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, QoS and VOIP Monitoring solutions (CATI, Solarwinds, WUG, Wireshark etc) Strong documentation and

Diagram skillset to support project and infrastructure changes (Visio, PowerPoint, Excel)

Excellent oral and written communication skills
