POSITION SUMMARY:

We are hiring for an intern/co-op for an Engineering Student at our Propulsion Technical Center in Auburn Hills, MI, working for the Product Engineering team, developing high voltage heaters for electric vehicles, and supporting EGR valve and coolers for internal combustion engines. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with testing, data collection, data analysis and reporting on results. If the student is available for multiple terms/semesters (preferred), they will transition more into engineering assignments increasing in responsibility as they progress towards their degree.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Lab Development:

  • Test set-up, and data collection set-up
  • Part measurement
  • Data management – download, format, and present data in an organized fashion

Problem solving:

  • Assist with failure/root cause analysis
  • Assist with urgent customer issues (product sorts, build concerns, on-site support, etc.)
  • Support on activities such as re-flashing components at OEMs

Product Development:

  • Assist with drawing checking & releases
  • Data analysis, to improve our knowledge base

Teamwork:

  • Considers the impact of his/her actions within the team. Actively seeks collaboration with internal and external team members
  • Willing to do some travel if necessary
  • Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Student working towards a bachelor’s degree (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Preferred)
  • Must be able to demonstrate a mechanical aptitude (electro-mechanical, is a plus)
  • GPA of 3.0 or better
  • Proficiency with computer, mobile and MS Office products preferred
  • A drive for results, enthusiasm and eagerness to learn
