Sr. Director, People Strategy

The Sr. Director of People Strategy will serve as the first point of contact on all strategic and major people issues and also lead and/or participate in projects at the corporate and plant level to drive consistent HR strategy across all Karma operations, specifically around integration, talent management, talent acquisition, and retention.

The right candidate for this role is biased to action, strategic thinking, tactical and hands-on implementation, and as comfortable working with the executive team as hourly assembly employees.

Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to): 

  • Recommend and publish company policies regarding recruiting, retention, performance management, compensation and benefits, safety, training, and employee/labor relations in compliance with applicable State and Federal Laws.
  • Advocate for employees through active listening, providing objective feedback, coaching leaders, and consistently delivering on commitments.
  • Consult senior leaders to drive change, improve organizational effectiveness, identify areas of development, and implement human capital strategies.
  • Support Strategic Planning agenda and activities.
  • Perform data-driven analysis to improve HR systems and procedures.
  • Ensure that all employee information is kept confidential and secure.
  • Drive informed decision-making using data to identify trends, determine root causes of issues, and develop effective solutions.
  • Develop strong relationships with all leadership, especially the CEO and Executive team, to form effective partnerships that maximize talent's abilities and performance; drive culture and provide support, coaching, insight, and counsel as appropriate.
  • Develop credibility with all employees as a resource, partner, service provider, and problem-solver.
  • Guide organizational design and re-organization efforts as needed – ensure that all positions and organization structures are aligned with business objectives and desired outcomes
  • Participate in senior executive meetings and other key staff/strategy sessions.

Required Qualifications: 

  • A bachelor’s Degree in a related field is required. HR certification is desired.
  • 10 plus years of progressive related experience in a corporate and manufacturing/assembly setting is required.
  • Automotive industry experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong Organization Skills to deliver goals on time.
  • Demonstrated competence in full lifecycle HR delivery, particularly emphasizing organizational development, employee relations, coaching, compensation, and other generalist/business partner skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of human resources-related laws, regulations, and policies and experience with cutting-edge and advanced human resources-related programs and initiatives.
  • Proven ability to build a culture of strong performance, collaboration, and a healthy workplace.
  • Must be able to roll-up sleeves to operate at all levels and address the current demands of multiple businesses.
  • Demonstrated expertise in assessing organizational and industry trends and implementing HR solutions.
  • Knowledge or familiarity with Mandarin is helpful but not a requirement. It is, however, important for the candidate to be knowledgeable and experienced in Chinese culture, especially as it relates to management style and integration/assimilation into a US-based management culture.
  • Flexibility to travel as needed, work from HQ in Irvine, CA, and the assembly plant in Moreno Valley, CA
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing their job in an indoor office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may spend 100% (excluding breaks and meal periods) of time in an office environment.

Compensation:

$210,000 - $240,000 /annual salary. Compensation will vary DOE.

At Karma, our base pay is one part of our total rewards package.

Compensation offered may vary on multiple factors, including market location, education, skills and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position being offered.
