OVERVIEW:

Job Description and Responsibilities

Design Innovation and Leadership

  • Lead and Drive design development with their team for large-scale projects including new stores, major remodels, and strategic initiatives.
  • Inspire and foster an environment of creative concepting, allowing the team to ideate through 3D modeling and 2D drawings; presenting compeling design concepts and prototypes to senior leadership.
  • Communicate with internal and external design & construction partners to bring design concepts to fruition, on time and on budget.
  • Serve as the department subject matter expert to the organization, at all levels of leadership, to translate their strategic product vision into the physical space of brick-and-mortar locations. Provide solutions to maximize space, drive growth, enhance brands, improves sales results and the athlete in-store experience.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings with internal and external partners to ensure store design and planning objectives have been clearly defined and are aligned to larger corporate initiatives and strategies.

Strategic Planning and Execution

  • Drive the team to translate and analyze business objectives and customer insights into actionable design strategies that drive foot traffic, engagement, and sales. 
  • Lead the design team through the entire design process from concept to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Develop and manage processes to streamline the execution of the Store Design and Planning function. Implement a successful communication process that informs the Store Planning and Field teams of design directives and changes. Create consistent departmental best practices and drive adoption.
  • Direct the store design and planning team to prepare new store and relocations from priorities set forth by the Real Estate group in conjunction with the Architectural Design Services (ADS) team and our AOR partners. 
  • Direct the development and maintenance of current prototype design concepts and merchandise flow for use by other corporate business units for efficient workflow practices.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Inspire and mentor a team of Store Designers, fostering a culture of creativity, innovation, and design excellence.
  • Provide clear direction, constructive feedback, and growth opportunities to team members, nurturing their professional development and design skills.
  • Attract and retain top design talent, building a high-performing team capable of delivering world-class retail environments.
  • Promote a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages diverse perspectives and innovative thinking.
  • Demonstrate a high level of passion and commitment to enhancing the overall teammate experience by displaying integrity, inclusion and empowering direct/indirect reports to be their best.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) in architecture or Interior Design 
  • 7 - 10 years of experience in Architecture, Interior Design, Retail Design industry/environments, preferred
  • Architect or Interior Design License preferred but not required
  • Working knowledge of construction methods and architectural design. 
  • Experience in Revit BIM Software
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience in AutoCad
  • Experience in Sketchup
  • Experience in V-Ray and Enscape is a plus
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
  • Experienced in the functions of Store Design and Planning with a major retailer.
  • Results oriented.
  • Sound understanding of project management flow charts.
  • Ability to establish priorities and accomplish goals through the delegation of responsibilities.
  • Strategic thinking.
  • Strong knowledge of production design, fabrication, materiality, and emerging trends
  • Strong cross-functional knowledge in a varity of retail functions, including Merchandising, Store Ops, Planning, Visual Merchandising, and Store Design
