Summary

Trading Structured Bonds & Derivatives within authorised trading limits, i.e. the risk parameters and designated currency and product limits. Also assists in providing pricing for new products and specific client transactions.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy and Business Planning

  • Price, quote and trade Structured Bonds in the secondary market.
  • Underwrite structured bonds arranged by CA-CIB in the primary market.
  • Feed prices of structured bonds in internal platforms (such as Intranet) and external platforms such Reuters and Bloomberg and other electronic pricing platforms.
  • Formulate trading strategies each day by analysing the latest market data and establishing positions to take advantage of market moves.
  • Execute transactions in accordance with established risk management procedures and risk parameters.
  • Analyse trading activities and relate these to market opportunities.
  • Understand new models and products and carry out simulations on them as relating to structured bonds.
  • Calculate data such as issuers asset swap spreads and input them into the FO system.
  • Maintain awareness of all economic and financial data likely to affect the market and keep updated on market changes.
  • Keep abreast of the markets by reading the financial press and available economic research.
  • Input all executed trades directly into the Front Office System of Orchestrade.

Management and Reporting

  • Report to Head of NL EMTN Trading on an informal basis on the progress of the business and specific issues.

Risk

  • Ensure adherence with regard to position and risk limits.
  • Manage and hedge the overall risk of the EMTN Trading portfolio on an intra and inter day basis.

Counterparties and clients

  • Develop and maintain relationships with peers in other organisations.
  • Represent the firm with external organisations (e.g., industry or product committees, and regulatory or governing bodies) if requested.
  • Notify IRD & Cross Asset Trading management and Back Office immediately of any and all trading disputes with counterparties.

Communication

  • Attend regular meetings or conference calls with the other members of Cross Asset Trading group as requested and as appropriate to review market strategy and exchange ideas and any other pertinent information.
  • Maintain open and constructive contact with the Sales desks regarding shared business.

Candidate criteria

Minimal education level

Bachelor Degree / BSc Degree or equivalent

Academic qualification / Speciality

Degree, preferably in a Mathematical/Scientific area, or A-levels followed by appropriate market relevant working experience

Experience

Experience in financial products, derivatives, physical or related trading/ risk management activities

Technical skills required

IT literate

Thorough knowledge of financial derivatives including market liquidity (ability to enter or exit a position), volatility (magnitude / speed of price change), credit risk of issuers of structured bonds, pricing and trading/hedging strategies

Strong numerical, analytical and spreadsheet skills.
