The Senior Technical Service Technologist, Category Dairy and Dairy represents Ingredion and provides technical support including on-site visits, development of new concepts and bringing the latest innovations and products to strategic and partner dairy customers and to all internal sales channels.

The incumbent is responsible for identifying project opportunities at select accounts, developing solutions to address specific needs, working towards successful commercial implementation and strategic customer relationship building.

In addition, the Senior Technical Service Technologist is responsible for collaborating, planning & conducting laboratory trials to identify product innovation and create formulations demonstrating the value of our solutions

Core Responsibilities:

  • Customer Technical Support – Act as technical liaison for selected accounts, effectively managing request and opportunities. Organize visits to customers and visits from customers at Ingredion Idea Labs (planning trials, meetings and venue). Utilize laboratory and pilot plant equipment to conduct trials and evaluate products to help development and diagnose problems. Review customer processes and formulations to make recommendations in a timely manner meeting customer needs for cost savings, quality improvements, or product innovation.
  • Application Development – Lead necessary technical activities to deliver concept developments & associated technical content demonstrating innovative ingredient or food systems functionality in identified sub applications. Proposes own ideas & utilizes customer feedback for new concept development or improvements.
  • Business Development – Collaborate closely with Sales representatives and technical team to develop business, update, and execute technical strategies. Build strong relationships at multiple levels within the customers’ organization.
  • Knowledge sharing and management – Record and share relevant customer activities and project updates in designated knowledge management tools.
  • Values and purpose – Display exemplary participation and leadership in our EHS program as well as Continuous Improvement and Customer Excellence initiatives.

Qualified candidates will have:

Mandatory requirements:

  • Degree (Bsc or Msc) or equivalent, in Food Technology or Food Engineering or other relevant discipline
  • Experience in a R&D, Technical service or Applications team in specialty food ingredients.
  • Excellent applied knowledge of interactions of different food ingredients, ingredient systems and food processing.
  • Practical understanding of equipment and technologies to enable laboratory and pilot plants trials.
  • Excellent analytical, monitoring, and reporting skills
  • English fluency, both written and spoken
  • The position will require regular travel to European based customers.

Desirable requirements:

  • Advanced knowledge of dairy and dairy alternatives food processes, food ingredient functionality and ingredient interactions is desirable
  • Second European language is desirable
