What to Expect
We are seeking an energetic, team-oriented people-person to be responsible for the performance of Quality Technicians and Inspectors on shift. The Quality Supervisor will manage a team of Technicians and Inspectors to ensure they perform at a high level while meeting the needs of the production floor and product quality. This individual will be responsible for Quality assurance related metrics for their shift. They will performance manage their team to generate the highest value from every employee while maintaining a high level of technical ability.
Due to business needs must be open to working a day or night shift.
What You’ll Do
- Guide and coordinate Quality Technicians on shift, taking primary ownership for their training and ability to maintain conformance to quality procedures, specifications, and interact with Manufacturing team members to determine shift priorities and allocation of labor
- Drive improvement activities across the shift to increase team knowledge and capability an align with Quality Engineering team to support Incoming Quality activities
- Tesla people leaders are responsible for a variety of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) assurance functions, including ensuring their teams' safety training is current, documenting EHS incidents, proactively correcting workplace hazards in the areas, and empowering others to continuously improve operations
- Work from schematics, diagrams, layouts, defined plans, and written/verbal instructions
- Maintain quality performance metrics and drive issues to root cause solutions and audit manufacturing line against released manufacturing processes and procedures
- Provide coaching and training to Quality Technicians, define goals and performance metrics. This would include conducting bi-weekly 1x1’s with each individual technician
- Hold team members accountable to any policy violations and work towards curbing sub-par behaviors, provide weekly written status reports to management and peers, and take part in conducting interviews as needed
What You’ll Bring
- Must understand general manufacturing processes, Quality methodologies, and team leadership. Must demonstrate reliability, initiative, and desire to learn. Must be adaptable in work schedule (including compressed work week and night shift) and the working environment
- Capable of providing constructive feedback to subordinates, multitask and adapt to constant change, and maintains confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information
- Able to wear all required PPE associated with required tasks
- Ability to sit, stand, and/or walk for 10+ hours per day. Wear air purifying respirator as needed for specific tasks. Lift at least 10 -20 lbs. on a regular basis. Perform repetitive hand and wrist motions and sometimes may have to twist and bend body. Ability to climb ladders/stairs, work in a loud environment. Must be able to discern audible alarms, must be able to distinguish colors and possess accurate depth perception
- Strong aptitude with electronic and mechanic test and measurements systems and proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and wiring diagrams; Applicable documented Training and/or Certifications a plus
- Ability to use technological tools and business system applications to manage, synthesize, interpret data, and able to use Microsoft Office software
- Effective verbal and written communications skills along with strong attention to detail, flexibility, and prioritization and must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
