The Video Coding and Transport team develops innovative technologies for video compression as well as video transmission and formats. International standardization forms an important part of our work.
We are now looking for a
Senior/Principal Scientist, Audiovisual Systems and Transport to join our team.
Provide significant technical leadership in immersive video codec communication system design.
Responsible and accountable in designing end-to-end transport solutions, including selection and/or development of communication protocols for the usage of audiovisual codecs in systems.
As a member of our research staff, you will be expected to initiate and create research ideas as well as contribute to research work that leads to technology transfer, publications and Intellectual Property.
You will also be authoring proposals to relevant international standardization projects.
To succeed in this exciting role, we expect you to have the following qualifications:
6+ years of relevant experience on communication protocols for multimedia transmission, end-to-end systems for multimedia, and/or audiovisual codecs.
A master degree is a minimum requirement and a PhD degree is preferred.
Expertise in the latest video coding standards, such as High Efficiency Video Coding, and/or audio coding standards, such as MPEG-H 3D Audio, when it comes to utilizing systems integration features of the codecs.
Expertise and experience on specifying and utilizing multimedia formats and protocols, such as the ISO base media file format and MPEG-DASH.
Must have strong verbal English communication and presentation skills as well as excellent technical and scientific writing skills in English.
Ability to work and make decisions independently.
The following additional skills or experience are valued:
Software development skills in C and C++, at least to the extent that hands-on supervision of project members in software development is fluent.
Experience regarding software development processes and tools
Knowledge on GPU programming, cloud-based media processing, and/or immersive video APIs and SDKs (such as WebVR and OpenXR)
Knowledge on image and/or video signal processing and compression, 3D computer graphics, and/or immersive audio or video formats.
Experience of international standardization is considered a significant benefit.
A track record in publishing in scientific journals and conferences in relevant fields.
Good mathematical skills.
Increased awareness of issues outside of your own subject area.
