This role is first and foremost a leadership role integral to the B-F Italy Leadership Team. The key responsibility as a team member is to be a steward of the organization culture, driving a unified purpose across the commercial organization by being an active and collaborative member of the Italian Leadership Team.

Meaningful Work From Day One

Pivotal to this role, is the ability to inspire, motivate, empower and develop our teams and beyond, in partnership with HR.

Secondary to this, you will be responsible for leading a talented group of Key Accounts, Field Sales and Sales Operations experts.

The incumbent function is to be a key member of the B-F Italy management team who contributes significantly to the future strategic direction of the company.

This role will be key in guiding and formulating Brown-Forman Italy long-term strategies and annual company execution plans.

Be accountable for providing people insights to drive organization, culture, D&I and capability plans; as well as partnering with the Marketing Head and Finance Head to ensure an aligned and cohesive Customer and Channel Strategy.

What You Can Expect

1. Championship of the Business Development

  • Meet /exceed Commercial objectives of all brands across all channels.
  • Work closely with General Manager, Head of Marketing and Head of Finance on development of business and portfolio strategies, yearly budgets and quarterly projections, trade terms, price structures, profit margins.
  • Responsible for Sales strategy creation and implementation.
  • Maximize new business development opportunities.
  • Identify revenue growth opportunities (RGM) within business environment.
  • Recommend actions to adapt to changes on a proactive basis.

2. Strategic Guidance

  • Provide leadership to the team via strategic analysis, program development and resource management.
  • Communicate company’s vision and strategies and manage the performance and development of Sales Department team.
  • Co-lead the quarterly projection process and provides analysis and explanations for variances to secure proper understanding of all commercial aspects. Identifies upsides and downsides to the projection to identify and understand key performance risks.
  • Plan, allocate and evaluate work done by Sales Organization.

3. Organizational Culture and Talent Development (in partnership with HR)

  • Act as a role model and lead a diverse and inclusive culture where different perspectives are encouraged and individuals feel connected and valued. Drives D&I strategy implementation in Sales organization.
  • Provide strong leadership and direction to direct and indirect reports.
  • Support team development by providing opportunities and coaching to the team with on-going appreciative and constructive feedback.
  • Engage the team in company’s visions and directions and motivate the team to make active contribution.
  • Design structure of entire Sales Department team, consistent focus on improving effectiveness and efficiency of Sales Department staff.
  • Build and develop bench strength to fuel Brown-Forman regionally and globally with ready talent.

4. Business Analytics and Insights

  • Improve quality of strategic operating planning via in-depth ongoing analysis of market trends and identification of company’s strengths and weaknesses.
  • Manage the company’s sales planning, controlling of discounts spending and sales results, reporting and budgeting requirements and processes.
  • Assume overall responsibility for daily sales issues, selling process and successful money collection, distribution level, pricing, execution of brand building activities, sales analysis and projections.
  • Keep company informed of key competitive activities, changing business, political or market conditions.
  • Manage evaluation of performance/effectiveness of sales initiatives and brand building activities executed in the market.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Minimum 10 years of sales experience in leadership positions, ideally in off and on trade channels, profound knowledge of the Italian market and trade.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering sales growth in a highly competitive environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop Sales organization and build the talent pipeline.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with distributors, accounts and customers.
  • Prior Experience in wine and spirits or luxury FMCG industries

  • Strong work ethic with ability to invest the hours needed to accomplish the objectives.
  • Self-motivated, high-energy, and capable of handling multiple tasks and getting things done on time and within budget.
  • Excellent command of written and verbal English, other languages will be valued, Italian is a must.
  • Familiar working in a multinational matrix organized company.
  • Turnaround / change management experience will be valued.
