CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Associate Customer Development Manager/ Customer Development Manager is responsible for delivering net sales, volume, and market share targets for an account. Associate Customer Development Manager/ Customer Development Manager is also responsible for establishing long term mutually beneficial relationships with Key Customers and effectively utilizing resources with a certain budget.

DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Customer Development Strategies:

  • Translate sales strategies into specific operational sales objectives (e.g., pricing, distribution, and share of shelf, volume, profitability, and market share) and other key performance indicators. KPI’s include gross to net, margin, forecast accuracy, account inventory levels, out of stocks, and promotional performance.
  • Ensure “winning at the shelf” is a top priority for the team, and that 5P tactics and demand marketing initiatives are executed with excellence at the point of sale.
  • Leverage supply chain drivers to maximize on shelf availability and minimize total supply chain cost for the Company and our customers.
  • Develop a deep understanding of shoppers, retail environments, customers and service providers and integrate into strategies and action plans.
  • Develop strategies to proactively respond to shopper, customer, service provider and competitor trends that result in sustainable sales and share growth.
  • Develop and implement insight-based, shopper strategies and solutions that enhance the shopping experience and grow the category sales and profitability.
  • Develop and implement an aligned shopper-driven customer/retail environment plan to deliver the commercial goals.
  • Translate the customer plan into flawless in-store execution to entice our shoppers and win at the shelf in every retail environment

Internal/external communication, relationship building:

  • Build engagement with customers and service providers to gain commitment to a joint plan that delivers mutual superior business results.
  • Negotiate effectively to secure Colgate-Palmolive’s vital interests, foster/protect relationships and create mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Influence customers to grow sales, improve service and identify efficiencies by utilizing new techniques, tools, and information systems.
  • Arrange customer meetings on a regular basis to set tactical goals and future activities. Ensure goals are met by means of regular analysis, store checks and audits.
  • Establish effective relationships with distributors to ensure fulfillment of customer’s orders.
  • Work with customer marketing to leverage trade spending and develop effective promotional and in-store programs that drive consumption off the shelf. Ensure efficient and effective use of promotional material and equipment.

Research & Analysis:

  • Conduct detailed analyses of trends (brand share, pricing, category sales, competitive products, and promotional activity) and gain customer and Colgate-Palmolive agreement for a business plan that balances the needs of the account and Colgate-Palmolive.
  • Understand and leverage the factors that drive financial performance and pricing for the Company, customers and middlemen to drive profitable growth.
