What to Expect

CAD Technical Program Managers and Engineers on the Battery Pack Design Engineering team drive top-level battery 3D & 2D assemblies & documentation to enable seamless development & production of all Tesla vehicle high voltage batteries (HVB). Our team owns top-level HVB assembly documentation, creates complex CAD assemblies of hundreds of parts, develops comprehensive technical assembly drawings to communicate with global supply chains and factories, owns accurate bills of materials across multiple product configurations, and executes change management with teams across the company. 

This role requires a highly organized mind set and skill/experience managing large and complex assemblies. You will be the point of contact for HV battery content - so you must be a strong communicator who is comfortable working across multiple teams, you will also be the owner of complex assemblies and documentation - so you must be detail oriented with a high standard for quality of work. Tesla moves quickly, so being self‐motivated and disciplined is critical. You must be passionate, but direction changes frequently, so you must also be resilient. Our HVB team makes the batteries for all our Electric Vehicles.

What You’ll Do

  • Create and manage HV Battery Design Assembly Documentation (3D CAD, 2D Drawings, and Bill of Materials) of complex, configured HV Battery products throughout the entire product lifecycle
  • Drive creation of clean and complete HV Battery CAD assemblies (clash free, interface checks, material assignment, & more)
  • Execute change management of top level HV Battery products in Tesla systems (3DExperience, WARP)
  • Utilize CAD software features to generate exports of HV Battery product attributes (mass, usage type, part numbers)
  • Represent HV Battery Design in periodic reports of HV Battery attributes (CAD, mass, & more) for overall Vehicle program checklists
  • Ensure HV Battery Design Assembly Documentation is accurate and accessible to cross functional teams (Factory, Supply Chain, Vehicle, Service) throughout the product lifecycle
  • Lead CAD and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) best practices and be a HV Battery CAD and Bill of Material resource for HV Battery Design and cross functional teams

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering OR equivalent Program Management experience
  • Experience with CAD and PLM software (CATIA and 3DX preferred)
  • Experience creating and managing large complex CAD assemblies
  • Experience using Product Lifecycle Management systems (Enovia or EPDM preferred)
  • Hands on experience assembling physical products (low or high volume)
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast paced and dynamic work environment
  • Great people skills and the ability to work effectively with cross functional teams

Expected Compensation

$68,000 - $150,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
