The Human Resources Director, North American Operations for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible for people strategies in support of the Operations function, leading a geographically distributed team of six HR Managers and HR Business Partners in support of sites across North America, and delivering human resources support to 1200 associates. In this role, you’ll use the Danaher Business System, applying continuous improvement principles in support of hands-on problem solving.

This position is based at our Chaska, MN anchor site, a growing Operations and R&D hub. Other major US sites include Miami, FL, Hebron, KY, and Carlsbad, CA. This job supports onsite associates and should be onsite 2-3 days per week with flexibility, and be prepared to partner with global peers in different time zones. Beckman Coulter, our vision is to relentlessly reimagine healthcare, one diagnosis at a time.

You will be a part of the Global Operations Human Resources leadership team, reporting to the Vice President Human Resources – Global Operations. You will be responsible for the ideation, design, and sustainment of people initiatives. Your contributions will expand and enhance our Associate Value Proposition through work in engagement, talent management, DE&I, and workforce planning. Your ability to coach, influence, and collaborate with Operations leaders will be key to your outcomes in this role. You and your team will build local initiatives to support business level strategic priorities in collaboration with the Human Resources leaders in other regions across the globe.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Take our Associate Value Proposition to the next level, partnering internally and externally to position our brand with both current and future associates
  • Coach and lead senior leaders through key people related topics, supporting these leaders in their own skill development in DE&I, Workforce Planning, Engagement, and Talent Management & Development
  • Mentor and develop your own established team of site-based HR leaders, empowering and engaging the team to provide strong support to their customers
  • Engage globally in large-scale business and HR projects in both a contributor and leadership capacity, leading workstreams and major project components while consulting on others
  • Lead through KPIs, using established tools and creative comparisons of data to change data into actionable information and then sustainable actions
  • Collaborate with COE’s in the Employee Relations, Talent Management, HRIS, Recruiting, and DE&I spaces, leveraging their expertise to build and implement people strategies for the North American Operations organization
  • Maintain and enhance our employment brand in the external marketplace, building our company’s reputation in our local markets through partnerships with schools, DE&I organizations, and local / government employment consortiums

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 20+ years of experience, OR Master’s/Doctoral degree with 18+ years of experience, including 6+ years managing people
  • Demonstrated experience in LEAN, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement environment
  • A Human Resources background spanning all aspects of the discipline, including employee relations, learning & development, talent management, DE&I, and recruiting.
  • Strong project management skills, potentially through formal training, and applied to complex workforce development initiatives
  • Experience working with senior leaders across multiple disciplines, using information and influence to successfully navigate change

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Experience in high-tech, manufacturing, and/or regulated (FDA, DCAA) industries
  • Certifications in LEAN or Six Sigma
  • Experience problem solving using Kaizen

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
