- This position is Monday through Friday 10am - 6pm**
Purpose: The Pharmacy Technician assists the staff pharmacists in the day-to-day operation of the Pharmacy. This include, but is not limited to, customer service, prescription order preparation, patient deliveries (if applicable), assisting with managing inventory, and the general maintenance of the pharmacy department dispensing area.

Detail of Key Job Responsibility Areas
1. Script Data Entry
- Scan refill queue to process prescription refills
- Refill requests to prescribers as needed
- Enter insurance, patient, and provider demographics
- Scan Processing Exceptions queue for denied claims not corrected and alert Third Party Specialist as needed
- Triage workflow appropriately
2. Filling
- Scan fill queue for filling priorities
- Prepare batches by patient for pharmacist verification. This includes but is not limited to:
- Count and place drugs in prescription vials or use manufacturer unit of use packaging
- Label EACH dispensing unit
- Affix auxiliary labels as required
- Prepare batch per workflow
- Use alternative counting surface for any drug products with allergic reaction potential
- Check for product accuracy and expiration dates
- Any products requiring measurement referred to a pharmacist or pharmacy intern
3. Dispensing (Point of Sale)
- Verify patient demographics on all prescription point-of-sale transactions to ensure customer accuracy
- Ask for required identification as required by law
- Any patient that does not have proper identification is referred to a pharmacist
- Require pharmacist counseling on all first-time/changed prescriptions
- Offer Pharmacist counseling on all other prescriptions
- Offer secure packaging for all transactions/prepare for shipping
- Follow all laws/statutes (e.g. controlled substances, Combat Methamphetamine, HIPAA)
4. Miscellaneous

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required, associate’s degree and/or Pharmacy Technician certification preferred. Additional relevant coursework/education desired. 1 – 3 years retail experience preferred. Excellent computer, organization and interpersonal skills necessary. Ability to relate to people of diverse backgrounds, cultures, races, sexual orientations and gender identities or expressions. Ability to speak, read or write Spanish preferred. This position has full access to sensitive and confidential medical records and HIV - related information on all patients. Ability to maintain confidentiality both inside and outside of the facility is essential.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to stand, sit, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. This position is primarily standing and walking in a fast paced retail pharmacy environment. Occasionally the employee must stoop, bend and lift or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
