The Division of Arts and Humanities at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) invites applications for an open rankd (tenure-track/tenure) faculty to begin on September 1st 2024 in The MFA Degree. We are especially interested in candidates whose work contributes to interdisciplinarity and methodological innovation as well as to new approaches to curatorial and educational practices. A candidate whose scholarship demonstrates a global understanding on the art of the early 20th century with an emphasis on gender perspectives and who is interested in forging interdisciplinary connections at NYUAD and with the region. Track record of excellence in both teaching, curation, and connecting educational programs and pedagogies with public facing art organizations. A scholar and curatorial practitioner who uses approaches from a variety of institutional models and perspectives.

The burgeoning MFA program is currently in year three of existence and we seek to fulfill our commitment to equity-focused teaching practices and diversity in the design of our curriculum. We are eager to welcome a colleague whose experiences, training, and practices will contribute to our efforts in developing the richly diverse landscape of artists and artistic production. We seek an established educator and a scholar experienced in developing innovative curriculum with a strong pedagogical focus on bridging theory and practice and interested in forging interdisciplinary connections at NYUAD and globally. The candidate should demonstrate a strong grant writing ability through an established track record of external funding and have experience leading a faculty.

The successful applicant will also have demonstrated commitment to service, including mentoring and advising graduate students from diverse backgrounds and a desire to shape the future of the curriculum through leadership roles.

The successful candidate will be able to relate their own scholarship and research to other fields of study for collaborative teaching, learning and research opportunities. Responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate teaching and supervision in the Program, teaching in the Core Curriculum, and service to the university. A minimum three years teaching experience is required.

It is expected that MFA faculty will be especially active in fostering collaborations with local and regional artists and art institutions, including the NYUAD Art Gallery, the NYUAD Arts Center, academic organizations and museums, research center.

Qualifications

Ph.D. or equivalent degree (D.M.A. or other) and candidates must have demonstrated an ability to develop high profile art programs.
